and this was 5w4d ultra sound, which would be a HcG around 24days as per the above chart. if your HcG is only 750, dont worry. this ultrasound below, had the last #'s on the chart, so the average HcG was 2637.Ultrasound in early pregnancy: 5.5 weeks from last menstrual period
Transvaginal ultrasound of a normal pregnancy at 5 weeks 4 days of gestation

a ton happends in a short amount of time in the early pregnancy stages.

wow... the only thing I have to say is be careful of ER doctors and get in with your regular doctor to get a second opinion asap. In August 06 I had a similar situation, cramping, mostly on one side, right above my right ovary. I was not even 4 weeks along had taken an ept to confirm the pregnancy, and it was a faint faint positive. I went to the ER. They did an ultrasound and of course could not see the baby that early, but could see that I had an ovarian cyst (causing the pain). they did a hcg test and tried to tell me that my hcg levels were over 200,000! Based on that lab test, they diagnosed me as having an ectopic pregnancy. I argued with the doctor on how I thought that was impossible that my hcg levels were that high seeing as I had just taken the ept and it barely showed up. I thought the lab was wrong, but he gave me this arrogant attitude and "explained" how the hcg levels can act differently for ectopic pregnancies. He told me that they could do another hcg test but that there really wasnt time and basically that I could die if I waited for the test. Honestly, the way he talked to me was like he was this almighty all knowing doctor and I was an idiot. I agreed to do the surgery and then after I woke up from it, found out that I had a normal uterine, NOT tubal, pregnancy and an ovarian cyst. so AFTER surgery they decided to redo the labs. They redid the labs three times and found that the first one was wrong, my hcg was 210, not over 200,000... BUT... the kicker is that now that I had this laparoscopic surgery so early in pregnancy, I was at greater risk to miscarry, which I did exactly a week after surgery. I guess the moral of the story is that I went against my own instinct and allowed this jerkoff idiot er doctor to pressure me into something I didnt feel comfortable with and KNEW wasnt right.
Did they explain to you WHY they think it's a tubal pregnancy? And why did you think you were 5 weeks, but they thought 3? When was your lmp? Go by that date, like everyone said.... and the hcg level of 750, from what I understand, is a normal level at 5 weeks. To answer your questions, I guess I dont know the symptoms of an actual tubal pregnancy, other than one sided pain... which, as I found out, could be due to an ovarian cyst or something else. I read on webmd that it is normal to get some lower pelvic cramping, but very mild, with normal pregnancies. My symptoms with the miscarriage were bleeding and the worst cramping in my life... not one sided or anything. The surgery itself was not bad, they do put you to sleep, you'll have a small incision in your belly button and maybe another one on your tummy.Quoting tink19873:
the only symptom i have is slight shoulder pain but i dont no if its related it could be my mind playing tricks on me is it possible that im worrying so much that the shoulder pain i have is related from me stressing or freaking outQuoting fairygirl13:Quoting tink19873:they didnt see my sac until i was 6 weeks, and it was so small, that they could not "call it a sac" until it was large enough to register with a measurment. a week later, and not until my HcG was 10,000 were they able to see it, and say, "yes there is the baby". in that week, i had spotting, they gave me Prometrium, i had lots of cramping, and they checked my tubes, no tuble, just a slow grower at first in uterio. at that 7 week check, it went from almost sac to a sac, fetal pole, and heart beat.
i had some menstural like cramps no bleeding no spotting and the cramps was a bit uncomfortable not really painful but my hcg levels was 750 they said they should be like between 100- 10,000 and yes they said they think its a tubal
have your periods been reg, and do you know when you concieved?
if you have a 28 day cycle, every time, go with the LMP date, for how far you are, if you dont have a normal cycle, then just give it some time and go with the 3 week guess, but they told me i would be due may 29, and i said, no i will be due before may 20, i know when i concieved. and sure enough, when baby was big enough to measure, i was told i was due May 18.
with a HcG of 750, i would not even worry yet.
Quoting mom2_1princess:
well... 750 would be high for being 3 weeks along, but perfectly normal at 5 weeks. when was your LMP? Do they think that you may be three weeks from ovulation, or three weeks pregnant, because that would make a difference. Just because they cant see it on an ultrasound, doesnt necessarily mean it's ectopic... fyi they CAN see ectopic pregnancies on ultrasounds too. They are supposed to be able to see pregnancies on ultrasound by 6 weeks or once the HCG reaches a certain level... I'd give it a little while and then do another ultrasound. On the flipside though, if it is actually ectopic, it can be dangerous, but honestly would most likely be very painful and you would KNOW.
