Well, I don't share my real name on-line, but you can call me Lilacs :) As you might have guessed these are my absolute favorite flower. I love, love, love, them! I am happily married to the first man I ever kissed, or even held hands with, and I love him with all my heart. I have two toddlers, a boy and girl who keep me busy all the time. I love to cook and bake, particularly old recipes, make wood toys for my kids, and decorate my house in old time things. I am currently hand sewing a rag doll for my daughter for Christmas (Ssh), it's simple, but I hope it can be something she will cherish. I love learning about my ancestors and the way they lived. It fascinates me! Oh, and I also love collect antique fruit jars!

  • Hi!  I'm in Texas and stumbled upon your group in the "groups seeking members" forum.  I don't live the old fashioned lifestyle much but it definitely intrigues me.  I love old recipes and old houses and would love to get back to the basics when it comes to other things too!  We just moved into our home last March and it's 102 years old!  We've refinished the wood floors and are in process of painting and will eventually redo the bathrooms (I'm keeping the clawfoot tub!!) and kitchen.  It's been modernized sometime in the 70's and I'd like to update it more (appliances and such) but keep it simple and with an old fashioned touch.

Welcome to the group, Kassy! Thank you for joining :) I too LOVE old houses, unfortunately I only live in an apartment. My husband and I would like to buy and old farmhouse though in the near future. Your home sounds great, sounds like you are fixing it up nice!

  • My name is Amber Le'Anne.  I type in larger font because I'm blind in one eye.  I love anything "old"...wives' tales, houses, buildings, stories, you name it it fascinates me.  I'm currently trying to convince my husband to "tone down" our life...I want simple things...  like a clothesline to hang my clothes on in the sun.  Candles to see by when the sun goes down.  Bunch of other things, but for now, you've got the idea.

Nice to meet you all.  I'll stop in when I can.

  • i don't have a picture but it is a loom that my mother had and i used strips from levi's for the warp,, i think you call it..  then i had strips of material that i sewed together  and rolled into balls, and then i weaved it in and out of the warp... it made a heavy rug... haven't done it for  a while  since i have been working. full time...

  • Hello, my name is Laurie and i'm from western PA.  I have 4 daughters who of course are all weight conscious so cooking from scratch is healthier than prefab foods.  I love to make crafts, especially for the home.  I'm so happy to have found this site.

  • Hi!  I am Cassie.  My whole family and I reenact the pre-1840's every chance we get.  The reenactments are called Rendezvous.  I grew up in Indiana in 2 different OLD farm houses.  Each were about 85+ years old when we lived there and that was 15+ years ago.  We raised our own gardens, canned our own veggies, fruits, jellies, jams.  We raised chickens, goats, rabbits and farm cats.  Dad hunted up until we moved to Arkansas about 15 years ago so we ate whatever he shot.  Now, hubby, daughter and I raise rabbits, can some foods, fish, eat what brother-in-law shoots since we don't hunt.  I won't cook too many foods unless it is in cast iron.  All my friends and family say that I cook better over an open fire than in the house.

I know, there is so much junk in so much prepared, processed food, today! I try to incorporate healthy aspects to my cooking, more whole wheat flour, that kind of thing :)

What kind of crafts have you done, Laurie?
