I seem to be the old fashioned one in my area.  I am trying to get back down to sewing things for the family.  I do a lot of the crochet but I guess not enough of it often anymore.  I love to work with my hands because of my arthritis in my hands.  Any ideas for the sewing?  Love to hear them.

I'm into all of that LOL I am teaching my girls to use the sewing machine this summer.....we've worked on crochet, cross stitch, and all kinds of crafts. I'm not really into knitting but I'll still each the kids. I know how, just not my favorite.

For sewing.....we are going over machine basics and safety. They've been doing mazes using the machines (without thread) to solve the maze. So far, going great. I am amazed that my 8 yo is doing so well. It is awesome to see :) When we get thru the lessons their first clothing project will be an apron, just like in home ec in school :) Other projects before then will be stuffed animals made from brown paper bags. After the apron, I'll let them pick a simple clothing project. Probably a skirt.

That's our sewing plan for the summer.

I've been sewing since I was a little girl.  When I was in school, it was a required subject.  All students were in 4-H then.  I was so proud in 8th grade when I won a pin in my division and was first in the county!! I have always loved to sew.  When my daughter was small, I made her the beautiful gathered dresses by Daisy Kingdom.  As I've gotten older, I don't sew as much.  Most of the time it's repair, husband's pants hems and my son's welding caps.  I'm working on a blouse for my mother right now.  The pattern is from an older blouse she had that she liked so much, but was worn out.  So, I told her I'd make a new one.  Just finished making curtains for my Dad's bedroom. His room needed an overhaul, desperately, so the curtains helped.  One of my favorite things is to browse a fabric store!!  I would like to learn to knit, to see if it would help these arthritic hands.  Don't know.

I crochet and I knit using Knifty Knitter looms.  My daughter and 11 year old son also knit using the looms, we make dishclothes, placemats, scarves, flowers, Barbie clothes, and other things.

I also sew.  I've sewn quilts, clothes, Barbie clothes, pillows, etc.  My latest project was dresses for a friends wedding.  My daughter will have to learn to sew because she loves to design clothes, so far just for Barbies or embellishing her own clothing.

My favorite needlework is cross stitching.  I've been doing it for almost 30 years.  I've made several gifts (rarely do I keep anything) and I have many, many projects yet to finish.

These are disappearing arts.  I plan on teaching any of my kids that want to learn!

I have done the sewing, quilting, crocheting.  I have a whole room of material.  I have started making crochet rugs.  Have made some for friends.  I is a job to get ready to do the rugs,  I have made about 2 dozen hats the I have crochet.  I can not follow a pattern so I sort of wonder around on my own.

I am jealous of the afghan, very pretty.  I am starting on a scrap afghan in browns, tans and reds.  I am working it in double strand with a choc. brown through out and useing fun fur  and other types of yarn.  I have made scarves and wraps now I am trying something bigger. I have a few dozen hats with all types of yarn that I have finished, don't know what I will do with them but got 'em.

That is awesome.  I have to work with my hands.  I would love to see it when you finish.  Thank you for sharing.  I love to hear about the work that others do with the yarns and things. I think after I finish the few I started I am going to do the squares and attach them like another member suggested.  Might help my hands a bit.
