We are excited to announce that the dates have been set and we are already gearing up for our conference in 2008. It will be held June 25 -29, 2008 at the Handerly Resort and Hotel in San Diego, California. You can view the hotel information online at www.handerly.com. The room rates will be as follows: $139.00 a night for single and double occupancy, $149.00 a night for triple occupancy, and $159.00 a night for quad occupancy. They also have pool view rooms starting 159.00 a night for quad occupancy. They also have pool view rooms starting from $159.00 a night and 1 bedroom suites starting at $199.00 a night. You can make reservations by calling 619-398-8335. You must state that you are coming with the 11q Research and Resource Group Conference to get these rates. We will be sending out conference registration forms and hopefully a preliminary agenda towards the end of this year.

I know that in the past, the cost of travel and hotel rooms has prevented many people from attending the conferences. We are hoping that by having this information out a year in advance, you can start saving and doing personal fundraisers right away. Many families were able to attend the last conference through state grants, church and work fundraisers, sponsorships from local service organizations, etc. I would encourage all of you who would like to attend, but (as many of us do) face the financial obstacle, to start looking at ways that you might be able to raise the funds to come. We are also looking for people to help with general group fundraising so that we will have the funds to put on the conference. We have a fundraising committee, but they cannot do it all on their own. Please email me if you would be willing to help with group fundraisers and soliciting donations and I will pass your information onto the fundraising committee. We also could use some help on a conference planning committee. I know some of you already volunteered at the last conference to help with this and I will be taking you up on it, but we could still use a few more willing souls. Please email me if you are interested and if there are any specific areas you might be interested in helping with (example: childcare, speaker gifts, group activity, speakers/presenters, etc.)

I so want to go but not enough  $$$ for 5 people to travel there.

I would love to go to this. I love to meet others with Jacobsens Syndrome. I just wish there were more in my area.
