I won't be able to help you very much due to me not understanding the whole ovulation thing as well, I just wanted to say first off you are not retarded, a lot of us woman don't fully understand ovulation or even our own periods, second take a deep breath and remember to have fun while ttcing, you are not alone with this question and here is a bump because I know there is someone in this group that can really give you the advice you need.

Ovulation can be a frustrating thing. I have struggled recently with this very thing. You really need to know your cycle, meanng you need to know and keep track several things to get an accurate idea of when you actually ovulate.  I would keep track for at least 3-4 months. Of course you can still try to conceive while tracking your cycles. Keep track of the day you start your period (Day 1 of your cycle), how many days your periods last, then how many days between periods. If you are irregular, meaning one month your cycle is 28 days (time between periods) and one month your cycle is 24 days and the next month your cycle is 30 days, it will be very hard to pinpoint when you ovulate. There is a company on Amazon called Byrd Labs who sells ovulation and pregnancy kits in bulk and they are very inexpensive. You can get 50 tests for $10.57 which is a lot less than the drugstore tests. These are not the pee on a stick kind, you will need a small cup and then dip the stick in the urine and check it in 5 minutes. They are very accurate, I have been using them every month starting right after my period ends. What I have found is I have been ovulating between day 12 and 14 of my cycle. I haven't gotten pregnant yet but we have other issues, my hubby has low count so we are up against my advanced maternal age on top of that. I have to laugh when people say "advanced maternal age" as I am 41 and much younger than my grandmother who had my father when she was 48 yrs old.

I'm no expert but I hope my post helps. I know it is frustrating when you are TTC.

Warm Wishes,
Christine

Hi Tami926 - I have been advise to try the OV Watch as another resource. I spoke to my doctor about it and she did not object to me trying it. I did some research on it ovwatch.com and youtube as well. Yes Youtube. Also, in conversation with a co worker, she advise that it is very effective also. You wear it at night and I will let you know when you are most fertile. I am waiting for mines to arrive any day now. My husband and I have been trying for many years now and it can be so frustrating. We have been to see specialists and all say the same thing. Keep trying! Hopefully this will work for us. Invite me as a friend and we can chat more.  Thanks for reading!

Thank you to everyone for your input. I have found a site that might work it's called pregnancy.com and there is a ovulation calender on it. so it tells me that i am going to be more fertile on the 17-22. Now i just have to get the old man on the same page. He says that its not up to him, and i said well i cant do it alone. Does that sound like he wants to do this. Maybe thats the problem to. Who knows but i will keep you up to date.
