Any help or info on this would be greatly appreciated!

I went to my Dr. on Friday excited about TTC!  I told my Dr. that my periods had been irregular in the past, and since I just got off BC I assume they will be irregular again.  I have gained some weight since coming off BC and wanted to just get an all over check before TTC.  My pap came back normal, my thyroid came back normal and my Dr. said I might have a little pcos, but wasn't for sure.  So she put me on glucophage.  Anyone else out there taking glucophage/metformin and having success?!  I don't know much about it except that it helps with diabetes (which I don't have).  Please help!  I don't understand why she put me on it and what it is supposed to do to help me TTC.

Thanks so much!  & I won't complain if this gets viewed and no responses!  I haven't been given/found much info on it either, that's why I wanted to see if anyone had first hand experience!

I work in a maternity hospital and have actually talked to many women with PCOS who TTC for years before trying Glucophage who finally got pregnant within a few months of starting it.  It's a very common treatment choice for PCOS which can really get results with some women.  Good luck TTC and hope you get you BFP soon!!!

Well, my story is a bit funny.  I was actually diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and was put on 1000mg per day of Metformin.  My periods had been irregular too and my hubs and I weren't planning on TTC for another years or so.  Well, my Dr. warned me it stimulates ovulation, but did I listen??? NNnnnnooooo.....Needless to say, I am 12 weeks preggers now. lol  So yeah, I would have to say it is effective for both pcos AND type 2 diabetes.
