I WAS TOLD THAT IF WHILE UR TRYING TO GET PREGNANT ITS GOOD FOR YOU TO START TAKING FOLIC ACID OR SOME PRENATAL VITAMINS.. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THIS CORRECT OR JUST NUTHING.. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHATCHA THINK ABOUT THIS!!

I started takin prenatals since weve been ttc. im not sure abou the folic acid.
I am a nurse and this is true. My doctor told me to start taking them 6 months ago knowing I wan't going to be actively trying until this spring. She said to take a 1mg folic acid which I was unable to find but I do take 800mcg folic acid and any OTC prenatal vitamin should suffice. The purpose for folic acid is because being deficient in it can lead to neural tube defects such as spina bifida
It's true. Folic Acid helps prevent neural tube defect, which actually forms before some peope realize they are pregnant...so it's good to have it stored up in your system. The other thing is that I've heard that there is a chance it helps prevent nausea....hasn't worked for me, but you never know :)
when i found out i was pregnant with my 1st it was unplanned... went to the dr, got prenatals and they made me super sick. he told me to just take folic acid for the 1st trimester ::most important:: and then 2nd tri i could start back up my prenatals.. or take 1 flinstone vitamin in the morning and 1 at night lol.. i ended up doing that :P
