Back from Dr... update & Q about Sperm!

Well, she is running a bazillion blood tests to make sure I am healthy.  She also seems to think I may have miscarried this month :( :(  I guess sharp pains in your abdomen, extremely achy boobs and painful cramps with no AF are a sign of miscarriage?  Who knew.

She told me to possibly send my DH in for a sperm count.  Has anyone's DH done this?  The Dr. says it's done at the family doctor's office, so do they give them porn or just say , "here's a cup, go at it...'?  He is a little worried about it.  Anyway, I just hate waiting for blood test results, but I guess everything else is fine.  Oh, and no clomid until I see a fertility specialist.

As unpleasant as it may seem, my DH says it's no big deal.  The office makes them comfortable and gives them material to help them along and do their business.

Sorry to hear of your mc.

My dh wont do it.  I want him too, just to see if it might be him thats the problem. Another year of trying and I'm handcuffing him and making him go! A friends DH said that they give them magazines or videos to help and put them in a quiet room with a cup.

Thanks Ladies... the DR was not completely sure it was a MC.. she just suspected that.  I like to think my DH doesn't need any more sexy material than his thoughts of me ;)  haha!!

My husband is afraid to go to for a semen analysis because he has heard (probably from some Americans he went to school with) that they give the man porn magazines to look at (which is forbidden in Islam).  But I have heard that you can take your woman into the room with you and do it that way.

They sent my dh into a public restroom with his cup. No mags or movies, just lock the door and do your thing. He had patients knocking and an old lady banging her cane on the door yelling at him to hurry up lol. He decided to just bring the cup home since we live close enough, but I thought it was hilarious.

Hey,

My husband did it last month, and it wasn;'t like the movies at all.  He was just in a normal exam room, but they did hand him a cup and say "have at it" essntially.  He said it was kind of difficult considering the circumstances, but for the sake of getting pregnant he did it :).

It is well worth it!!!!  If your husband tries to get out of it, then he needs a reality check.  That procedure is a much easier one than most of us women have to go through, like the HSG.  I had to put that into perspective for my hubby, and he finally realized it was a small price to pay :).

Plus, the issues could be more related to him, and you would never know otherwise. Save yourself useless tests later on and go for it :).

Good luck!

You are so right, I think it will save us so much time and heartache just to get this over with.  He isn't reluctant to do it, he's just nervous.  He is deathly afraid that they will say .. "YES, something is wrong with your sperm."  Because I have a child from a previous marriage, he feels extreme pressure to have a baby with me and prove he is not "defective" as he sees it (and because he loves kids and really wants one of his own).  I wish he could understand that my love for him is so much more important than sperm motility.  I think he is going to set it up for this week.  We'll see how it goes :)
