Frustrated by doctor

My husband and I have been TTC for the last 6 years, ever since our 6 year old was born. She too was a miracle as they told us we would have very little chance to conceive naturally, although I did. I had a surprise pregnancy in June as well although I miscarried in August.
We were referred to the local infertility specialist. After 2 months of testing, bloodwork and ultrasounds we finally met with the doctor. We were not surprised that his semen analysis was off. I was a bit surprised that my ovarian reserve was so low. Here is the problem...when he started to talk about our options it came off more like a used car salesman than a caring compassionate baby doctor. He showed pictures and grafts. IVF being the answer. Then trying to convince us that we should get the extra genetic testing on the embryos. He told scary stories of those who did not opt for the testing. He wanted to get us in to the next cycle which we were supposed to be happy about. What he refused to talk about was cost which we knew was not covered by Tricare. The whole experience was so unsettling that we agreed to call them about getting on the next cycle, but we walked out feeling like if something went wrong, such as another miscarriage, he would blame us. Don't get me wrong, I would love to think I could be pregnant by Feb. Just that something did not set right with me. I don't understand why he did not offer another way.

What sort of genetic testing?

I felt the same way...fertility specialists push to treatment without regards to cost. I think it is just the way they are trained, unfortunately...

I felt like he was trying to sell us leather seats in a new car or the extended service plan on electronics! It was so unsettling!

He said we could have our eggs harvested, do the IVF and let the eggs fertilize but then do genetic tests before they are implanted to see if they would gave chromosomal abnormalities that would lead to miscarriage.  He told a story of a fertile woman that had her tubes tied that required IVF. She had 5 eggs that fertilized but only 4 were genetically perfect. I had to bite my tounge to not ask if I could make sure it would be a girl, blue eyes, blonde hair because I felt like it was overboard tampering not just ruling out Downs or other such chromosomal issues.  Like if we did not go for it and I miscarried it would be my fault.

I actually found a few websites with review of this doctor and they were not so good. Quite a few had the same exact problem.  Sigh.  I am going to go and speak with my OB/ GYN and see if we could try any therapies within her office to get us to a point where we have all of the optimal levels to TTC on our own.
