38 weeks with dull cramping and mild vaginal sharp pain

Last night I was up most of the night due to pregnancy insomnia and an uncomfortable, dull cramping all over my belly. It wasn't painful but just dull and annoying. This morning, I haven't had the cramping yet. I have been having mild sharp pains in the vaginal area. They are not really painful, but noticeable.

Last week my OB doc checked my cervix and it was 3cm dilated and 50% effaced. After she told me that I was expecting labor anytime now. But it's been a week and nothing. Today I have another appointment and she will check my cervix again. I wonder how dilated I am now and if she will admit me if I am past 4cm? Also, what is the dull cramping? It's not timeable but more like a constant cramping.
