TTC while simultaneously taking birth control pills?

Hey :)

So, I'd like to start TTC next march if all goes as planned, however, I am terrified of getting off my birth control pills. I have extremely painful and heavy periods that last forever and make me feel almost disabled. Since I was 16, I have been on Yaz and my periods are light, short, with minimal cramping. I LOVE IT. I want to know if there are any meds out there that will make my period lighter without preventing ovulation from occuring that anyone has heard of (I will be going to my doctor in the next 2 weeks or so, but I am curious now)? Or, what I was thinking of doing, was taking my BCP sporadically... perhaps every other day or every 3 days. I mean, the people I went to high school with years ago missed 1-2 pills and got pregnant on accident, so why shouldn't that be a method? I cannot fathom dealing with the horrible periods every month until I hopefully get pregnant, while working 12-14 hour shifts at my job. Has anyone tried this? Or am I crazy and losing my mind due to period fear lol? Thanks guys!

it barely touches me on my period :( and does nothing for the excessive bleeding. I have to change a tampon every 1.5 hours, or a pad every 2 hours. I have to wake up in the middle of the night several times. It's bad :/

I know there's a pill that you can take for heavy periods which is not birth control and you only take it while on your period. I forget what the pill is called but I'd definitely talk to your dr

I will google Vitex. I am a little terrified of my doctor because he always misdiagnoses me completely and i think he'd possibly screw this up lol. but lemme look it up really fast.

I bled for three years straight, and I mean every single day of three years to the point to where I had to wear Depends. I finally started taking ortho tricylclen birth control and it cleared up instantly and I had normal periods. I was on it for a year and I was scared to go off of it, too, but when I did everything stayed normal. You might be okay, maybe you should give it a test run.

Well I would talk to your doctor first. You would almost have to get off your BC for a while let your body regulate again, and then start TTC. It may take a while since you have been on BC for a while.. GL and hope you figure it out !!!

Wow, I thought my periods were messed up! I am on Camila birth control now, and love it. I haven't had a period since March 2012. Before I was on the I would often go 3-4 months with no period at all. Then I would bleed extremely heavy for 5-6 weeks. I have had 2 d&c's done over the years due to this bleeding. They never did figure out why I have it. I want a son with my soon to be DH, but I am scared to go off of my birth control.

I used to have to wear depends too. Bleeding through a super plus tampon AND overnight pad in 15 minutes. I know exactly what you went through! Ever go to a casino with friends, only to have to change your clothes in the parking lot because the whole seat of your pants is soaked with blood. From your damn period that you've been on for 3 damn months already. It's some bullshit, and male doctors don't really care.
