Spent so many years trying not to get pregnant....

Hi Everyone.  I am new here... just looking for some advice and feedback from others that may be in the same boat as I am or may have been at one time.  My husband and I have been together for seventeen years, married for eight.  A  few months ago we finally decided that we are in a great place and now is time to try to start our family.  We are both in our early 30's.  For some reason I thought since I had spent the good portion of my earlier years trying to prevent pregnancy that when I finally stopped preventing it that it would just happen.  Well, it isn't working out that way.  I have been trying to figure out the whole ovulation cycle... and the best days... blah blah blah, it is exhausting!  If anyone has any advice or tips please feel free to share.

Thanks!  :)

welcome!! that is what everyone tells us or wants us to believe-isnt it? no one ever tells us the possibility of infertility or just issues that may affect it. have you had a preconception appt with ob yet? its another great place to start at. she will do blood work, perhaps u/s. this will help you and dh find out what is going on. there should be no worries until 35+ for 6months and TTC over a yr 30-34ish.

why dont you start by tracking temperatures and start free acct with fertilityfriend.com it is the best resource other than coming here of course?

feel free to message any time. i have been ttc 14yrs (on and off through divorce and life changes) but 3 yrs ATTC (actively trying). i am 36 dh 43.

fx you wont be on this side for long.

Hello and welcome!! I was in the same boat... I thought it would just happen as soon as I wasn't on the pill anymore. Boy was that wrong!

My husband and I have been together 11 years/married for 7. I am 32 and my husband is 35. We have been ttc on and off for 5 years.

My advise would be to make an appointment with OB first if you have been trying for more than a year. Certain fertility doctors and tests aren't covered by our insurance. My doc was able to perform ultrasounds, blood work and other testing and used "painful periods" as the reason so that insurance would cover it.

Even though it's been so long, I still have yet to seek a fertility specialist out. Since insurance doesn't cover it, we will have to pay out of pocket for everything. We are building our new home in the spring and can't afford to pay out pocket for fertility at the same time. Plus, we need the bigger house to put future babies in lol our place is pretty a small right now!

Good luck with your journey. If you need to talk or have questions, please feel free to reach out to me!!
