It's been a year & I still have a stupid question I should know the answer to...

It's been a year today since I got my IUD out. *Sigh*

Question- You have to ovulate first in order to get AF, right? I feel so silly not being 100% sure on that.

I am asking because after my annual yesterday I am bleeding and cramping. A LOT.  Started out as brown spotting now it's bright red, and I need a pad.

Is this CD1 or just from the exam? I know I haven't O'ed because my opks have been negative for weeks.

Nope not entirely true. You could get AF without o'ing first

Well then, maybe she kicked it into gear lol. The cramps are horrible. I had such a bad cramp in my left ovary last night it shot down my leg & I couldn't walk. I thought dh was going to have to take me to the ER. Once I peed, and tmi, a lot of blood came out- it went away. Ugh. Damn body.

Some people have regular cycles and don't ovulate so I guess you don't absolutely have to O to get AF. But that's probably not the norm. But I'd say if you need a pad it is most likely AF.

Wait you got your iud out a year ago and haven't started getting a regular cycle yet? Ovulation occurs before af 2 weeks before. If you get pregnant then af never comes. Can you see a specialist? Maybe take birth control pills to try to kick start a cycle

You don't have to ovulate to get af. If you do ovulate, the only options are getting af or pregnancy. But ovulation isn't a necessity for a menstrual period, it's not uncommon for women to have anovulatory cycles, either regularly or on rare occasion.

Sorry, a lot of details are left out of this post because most of the women in here already know my story. I got my IUD out a year ago- I only mentioned that because I still don't have a baby so it's offically been a year for us... I got regular cycles back immediately after removal. I've been pregnant 2 in the last 5 months and lost both of them- the 2 loss resulted in a d&c, so I have been waiting for my cycle to return from that so that we can continue to ttc! :)

YAY! I hope so! I really hope this is af, and not just bleeding from the exam. I'd be thrilllllled!

I hope so! I am still thinking it could just be from the exam since that's when it started, but since it went to bright red blood thats new blood. Maybe she just kicked started it haha
