i honestly havnt read it yet so i dont know but we need to fix healthcare some how
I think we should NOT copy Canada. We already have free healthcare in America, it's called Medicaid. The PROBLEM is that it's handed out to illegal immigrants. If it were only applicable to proven citizens of America they'd have a lot more money to expand the program and be able to provide it to more people who need it.
Personally I'm not willing to give up my nice healthcare that I pay a teeny premium for, for "free healthcare" where I pay out the ass in taxes and get shotty quality healthcare with long waits. JMO.
Well, not everyone has "nice health care with a teeny premium." And tons of people don't qualify for Medicaid, but still can't afford decent insurance.
I would SO rather pay higher taxes and have universal health care. Look at the Netherlands...taxes are SUPER high by our standards, and they are some of the (statistically) happiest, healthiest people.
That's why reforming the Medicaid program and not allowing illegals to have access to it, it would free up a lot of money to expand the program and make qualifications slightly more flexible so that more people would qualify.
Although the US is one of the only countries who have healthcare who don't use a universal system we also value money a lot differently. The US is a greedy money hungry country and the PRICE of items is a lot higher than a lot of countries as well. So higher taxes don't mean better things for America. We'd have to change our entire views on money, which I doubt will EVER happen.
Or maybe we should reform the PRICE of healthcare, there should be a cap on how much insurance companies should charge.
But in all I don't vote for total health care reform and I'm most definitely not for universal healthcare.

You take the profit out and where is the incentive for doctors to spend 8-12 years going to school? I mean... we've got teacher shortages and jokes about "if you can't do, teach" because teaching is not a very desirable position... you either have to have a passion for it, or just not be good enough for other feilds... and why is this? Because the money isn't there. Why go to school for 4 years to make 50k/year?
There are many things that we can do do improve our healthcare system that DON'T involve a universal system... I know it sounds like the "easy" answer... but down the line it won't be easy and it won't be cheap and it will have a negative effect on either the standard of care, our ecomony or both.
