So get this...
I started having some really bad cramps Monday while I was at work. They were so bad I couldn't stand. So I called my GYN b/c I have a history of UTI's and ovarian cysts so I didn't want to wait for it to get worse. I went in yesterday morning and they did a UA and it was normal so my GYN wanted to do a pelvic exam. When she did it, she couldn't feel the strings on my IUD (I had it inserted in April of last year and never had any problems). So she wanted to do an ultrasound to see if they could see it and also to check for cysts. She said it could have fallen out (unlikely since I haven't had a period since May 2009 or it may have perforated into my abdomen.
They did a vaginal and abdominal ultrasound. My IUD did not show up on either ultrasound. So my GYN tells me, you need to go have an x-ray done to see if it has perforated into your abdomen. She told me that it rarely happens but that rarely doesn't mean never. So I went for the x-ray.
I went back to the GYN this morning. The preliminary report from the x-ray says that my IUD is in my right pelvis. So she told me that I will have laparoscopic surgery Tuesday morning to have it removed. She has done it before to remove an IUD and says it will be fairly easy. Only problem will be if it has got into my bowel or something and then she will have to call in a general surgeon.
I go for pre-op at 7am tomorrow and surgery is Tuesday at 9am. Wish me luck and pray for me!
I had my surgery this morning. Everything went ok and i'm home. I'm still sore and pretty tired but I think I'll be ok. Thanks for all of your prayers and encouragement!
I WISH YOU LOTS OF LUCK AND I HOPE EVERYTHING GO OKAY FOR YOU.
Wow I hope all goes well for you. See thats one reason the thought of a IUD scares me, lol. In fact I signed the waiver to get my tubes tied and am calling it good!
That is crazy! I have an IUD, and I've had major cramps for a few months. I found out that instead of creating an infection in the uterus, it created one in my fallopian tube. I go in on the 23rd to see what else I can do for it. I tood antibiotics, and it started to get better, but now it's just as bad as it was.
I really hope everything goes well for you. Let us know how it goes!
