OK, so I need a little advice.  My son has been very constipated since he was just a newborn, and we've always had problems with it.  Now, we r on to a new task...potty training.  He goes pee in the potty just fine, but since he has always been so constipated he refused to sit on the potty to poop.  He is on miralax and has the constipation under control now, but wants to put a diaper on to poop. he wears underwear all day and wants a diaper on to poop.  so he knows when he needs to go and asks me to put one on.  ive tried forcing him to sit on the potty, and he doesnt go then, and gets an upset tummy.  what do i do?? how do i get him to try to go on the potty?  and also, im having some issues with nighttime too.  sometimes he will wear underwear and wet the bed and sometimes he will wear a diaper and wet that too.  any ideas would be appreciated  thanks ladies

ok idk how old your son is...BUT dont stress nighttimes! not yet at least...my daughter will be 3 in april has been daytime potty trained since march of 09 and is sitll not nighttime potty trained. shes not ready because when i dont put a diaper on her at night she freaks out, screams and cries. def wait and let him decided when he is ready. as for the daytime, pretty much the same thing, if he knows when he has to go and asks to put the diaper on, just put  it on him when he is ready, he will go on the potty probably not something you want to hear but good luck to ya

Go to the grocery store and pick up the April issue of Parents magazine. They have an article about this EXACT thing on page 49. Personally I don't have much experience with it as my son is only 18 months and we have not starting potty training, and my son actually has the exact opposite of constipation.

maybe try insentives. my daughter is starting t potty train, but she only want to pee in her diaper too. she will sit on the potty, she knows when she has to go bc, like your son, she asks for a diaper on when she wants to pee. she is just over 2, so im not stressing it yet. she has peed in the toilet a few times, and when she does i give her 2 m&ms.

It might not have anything to do with the constipation my son was the same exact way he would pee on the potty fine but wouldn't sit on it to poop he didn't do it till he was over 3 finally he just did it on his own he said mommy look in the toilet lol and there was poop in it lol

Make it fun for him to poop on the potty. make up a song or dance. give him "treats" everytime he goes poop on the potty. ummm....thats all i can think of..sry if this doesn't help.

good luck
