So I had gone to see the ultrasound specialist in Tacoma on Thursday. Drove an hour and a half afterwards back to the town I live in hoping to get home with enough time to take a nap before I had to go to work. Well when I pulled in our driveway I noticed that my truck was pouring out coolant underneath. I got a second opinion from my hubby and we figured out that my water pump went out.
So I called work and told them I wasn't able to come in that night because my water pump went out in my truck and I was leaking coolant everywhere. I also told them that i was going to go buy a new pump and repair my truck, so till it was fixed I would not be able to drive my truck. My co-worker said ok I will let them know.
So the next morning we got a new water pump and spent most of the day pulling apart the front part of the engine to get it out and replacing it. Unfortunately my radiator hose was being stubborn and had to be cut off. We got the pump in and realized that we needed a new hose to replace the one we cut off but the auto parts shops had all already closed by that time. So I called work again and told them that I was going to be a little late this morning cause I had to get a new hose but I would be there none the less.
So this other co-worker on the phone asked why was I coming in, did I already have baby in hand? I was so confused and she told me well you talked to so and so last night and she told us all your water broke. So I quickly explained what all I had said and happened and she said ok I will do some damage control here and its fine if you are late int he morning.
So this morning I called to say that I was ready and would be in shortly. I was then imformed that The first person I had talked to had already went to my manager saying my "water broke and I needed to get it fixed", so confusingly my manager thought I must of been having the baby and pulled me off the schedule for the next two weeks.
I finally called the manager when I got to work and went off about dealing with this co-worker who never listens to anyone and somehow got out of my full story of what was going on with my truck that my water broke. Nice to know that I lose work time over that, but hopefully my manager is going to try to squeeze me back in somewhere cause they had already took me off schedule and brought in a new person to work my spots.
Grrrr, pisses me off when people can't listen long enough to get a story right and ruin things for other people and not care.
WOW!! That's crazy!
When I was in actual labor w/ DS the RN broke my water on accident and I told her that my water broke and she didn't believe me. She said it was still intact. I said I have tons of liquid running between my legs. She didn't believe me. The Dr. came in to "break my water" and speed it up some more....he goes to break it and DUH can't find it...he said, your water is already broken. I said I KNOW!! She broke it and didn't believe me. They looked on the pad and noticed micconium on it.
I was pissed because if they didn't believe me and missed the mic. the specialist wouldn't have been called and my baby wouldn't have been able to breath on his own. He had TONS and TONS of micconium when I delievered too and thankfully the specialist was already waiting.
Aww man I would be livid! Those damn nurses think they know everything and that you don't know squat about your own body! Thank goodness your son was alright and that the specialist was right there!
OP - I agree with the PP that the manager should give you the other co-worker's schedule for mixing things up and having you lose time.

micconium is the first baby poop that think stick black stuff and if they poop while still in the womb. they can swollow it in and can get very sick!
If I where the manager thats exactly what I would have done... next time though I would wait to actually talk to one of the managers. then its not a relay message that can get messed up from dumbasses not listening.
unfortunately our manager has weird hours and never puts herself on the schedule. But trust me if I know she is there this next time I am definitely talking to her and not someone else unless I know they actually listen.

Wow I would have screamed for another nurse or doctor. That would have made me mad if they didn't catch that because of what issues that he could have had when born. What if something happened?
I do not think nurses always listen like they should either. They induced me with pitocin during my first pregnancy cause I had pre-eclampsia. I remembered my blood pressure averaged 155/115. What was hard was they messed up on the pitocin cause they said I was still not having any contractions on the monitor and the nurse kept giving me more and more. I was crying in pain and not matter how many times i told her I can feel them she said well this shows none and gave me more. Finally the Dr. came in to check on me and saw me screaming and crying when I was just at a 2cm. He decided that something wasn't right if I was in pain and the monitor showed nothing. He inserted the internal monitor which showed that the amount of pitocin she gave me was giving me constant contractions that barely even lowered from a peak then back up every so many seconds with no breaks. So they ended up using meds to counteract it so they could get them back under control. I really hated that nurse.

That I would do and she knows it. She made sure at the beginning of tax season that i had her cell phone number in my cell phone with instructions to call her no matter what time day or night it is to let her know when I go to the hospital.
Quoting BAMBAMmommy:Ugh I HATE that! Some people are just really dense. And, I think if you were going in to labor you might call the manager personally to tell them you are going into labor instead of having it passed on by a co-worker. Lol som people just don't think things through.
