My daughter has Mrsa, a little TMI *first update* ***UPDATE***
I am so stressed about this. Found out on Monday that she may have it, so they drained it at the doctors office. and within a couple of hours of them doing that it got infected and filled back up with pus. So I took her back to the doctors the next morning. and there they said that it would have to be surgically drained. So we were admitted to the hosptial Tuesday. and there they drained it and confirmed Thursday that it was for a fact Mrsa. We are home now. and we are trying real hard to avoid the rest of us getting it as well. She does have an open sore on her bottom (that is where the boil formed). and bc of where it is at she has to have a bath after she uses the potty and they want her in the bath 2 times a day on top of that so it doesn't get infected again.
With her getting it, there is a chance that she will forever be a carrier of this. OR it will just get better and we will no longer have any problems with it. IDK what to do. I feel like just breaking down bc my daughter has to deal with this. and I feel helpless.
Are there any other parents going thru this that can give me any advice?? I am doing everything I can to disinfect everything in my house. we have been using Lysol and those clorox wipes on everything. But I know that bc she is young, we won't get everything that she puts in her mouth. Please if there is any advice y'all can give it would help me.
****Update**** so my daughters follow up appointment is in a couple of hours. And I am a little nervous on what they are gonna say. I have been doing everything they told me to do..but I did everything they told me to do last week before they put her in the hospital. I think that is why I am a little nervous..
Here are a couple pics of her from her visit last week in the hospital:

This one was taken right after they put her iv in..she wasn't too happy

and then I asked her to show me her princess face..

This was in the recovery room after they drained her boil. She was a little "drugged" up, but this was the only way they could get her to sit still right after.
***UDATE ABOUT DOCTOR VISIT***
He told me that she looks perfect!! She isn't contagious at this point so nothing to worry about there. We do have to go back in a week for him to look at it again. This has just made my day :O)
Throw the Lysol and the Clorox wipes away. The ONLY thing that kills MRSA is bleach. You would thing that the Clorox wipes would have bleach in them, but they don't...just look at the bottle. You can mix a half a cup if bleach with 2 cups of water and use that to disinfect everything. You can call your child's doctor and see if you need to adjust the bleach to water ratio. I know that you can soak toys in that ratio (we do it). But you may want it stronger to disinfect other surfaces.
Good luck.
WOW. I did not know that bc they didn't tell me that. but now I see where it says bleach-free. That sucks.UGh now I have to go get bleach.lol. That is something we never really buy.lol. Thanks for letting me know tho. :O)

I got mrsa in my c-section and bleach is the only thing that kills it. Im sorry your daughter has it. I suggest you that you clean the floors, doors, walls ect with bleach even if it is over powering it works. And use dial soap (that kills it as well)
Did it go away or is it something that you have to deal with now? and have you had any problems with anyone else catching it?

Its a serious bacteria infection, that if it goes untreated could be life threatening.

Our entire family has had it at one point or another. The sad thing is that once it is in your system it is there forever. It started with my husband. He hit his arm on a brick wall and went into the hospital for an x-ray. He came home with MRSA. Of course we didn't know what it was so we just thought it was a normal infection but after a couple of days he gave in and went back to the hospital. The hospital wouldn't tell him what was wrong because they knew they caused it. After a week of being there he went to another hospital and they put him in the OR immediately. They said if he stayed in the other hospital even another day he would have died. He now has a foot long scar on his arm about an in and 1/2 wide. My now 3 yo had it when he was 2 on his inner thigh. He was admitted for 24 hours in the hospital. I had it when I was 6 mos prego with my 2 yro daughter. My 6 yro has had it numerous times on the back of his neck. I have tried and tried to get rid of it but it always seems to show back up. It has been awhile (like a yr or so) but they say that it will always be in our systems and we just have to do the best we can to not have an outbreak again.
I have been researching it like crazy. So when she gets older should she treat this as if she has an STD or something? I know these are strange questions.lol. I know that when the time comes and she decides to have kids that it won't be passed to them like that. They gave a a "packet" to read but it doesn't really go into much detail about somethings. so this basically affects her immune system? making her more prone to colds and what not?
