I had surgery yesterday. I had 2 umbilical hernias. Yesterday I felt like the Bionic woman today I've been in a little bit of pain and have resumed nursing my 5 month old. My 4yra old dd is so hyper that she forgot I had surgery and accidentally hit my stomach trying to hug me. I instantly felt nauseous and am now in pain. They used glue which makes it less pain full. But ouch that hurt. I haven't really slept since yesterday. Because I like sleeping on my side. And I'm having to sleep semi sitting up. Any advice would be nice I'm trying not to take my prescription that much because I nurse. And have been switching back and forth between motrin and my script. More motrin than anything.

Ouch!

Also, your baby is really cute. But, you shouldn't put kids in their car seats with their winter coats on. It's dangerous.

What are you supposed to do take their winter wear off before putting them in the carseat? that doesnt make much sense

Yes. Actually, it makes perfect sense. You have to loosen the straps to make them fit properly with their winter coat on. This means that the straps aren't as tight as the should be, making the child less safe.

There are several things that you can do to assure that your child will remain safe and warm in their car seat during the cold months.

The part below is directly from my blog on Winter Car Seat Safety

  1.      If it is legal to do so in your state, start the car and turn on the heater a few minutes before taking your children out. This will give the car time to warm up.
  2.     Use warm garments that are safe to use in car seats. Long underwear and fleece jackets can be safely worn in a harnessed car seat.
  3.      Wrap the child in a blanket to get them to the car, then once they're buckled in, lay the blanket over their chest and legs.
  4.      Have your child wear their jacket to the car. Once you get there, get in the car and remove the child's jacket. Once the child is properly buckled, put the jacket on backwards.

There are a few things you can do if you are unsure if your child's coat or jacket is safe for their car seat. Take the seat inside. Place the coat or jacket on the child and buckle them into the seat. Adjust the straps as needed so that your child fits in the seat. Take the child out of the seat without loosening the straps. Remove the coat. Put the child back in the seat but do not tighten the straps. If you can fit more than 2 fingers under the strap at your child's shoulder bone, then that coat or jacket is NOT safe.

Great! I tried to put it out there in as unoffensive way as possible. I'm glad that you took it that way.  :-)

I wish you a speedy recovery.

I live in WI it's freezing here I have a snow suit for my daughter for in the car to take her out in the cold without it would get her sick it was 20 below the other day no way would I take her out to the car without it and I can't afford to let my car run for 30 minutes to get it warmed up. I make sure her seatbelts are tight enough

If you're satisfied with your decision to have your child not as protected as she could be, that's on you.

There are other ways to keep her warm besides starting the car 30 minutes early.
