How do you make a living? =/

Posted by   + Show Post

I'm a single stay at home mom to 2 boys, one not due untill August and I don't get any help from either of the "dad's". Finding a job has been a real pain for me, I've been trying so hard but no luck yet so I thought I'd come here and ask what some of you single mommies do for a living to make it on your own?

I've thought about joining the Slumber Parties business because I have a friend who's in it & she makes quite a bit but I need $250 to start so I thought of making crafts such as baby blankets, photo albums, decorated wipee cases etc, just to get my foot in the door on some income. Have any of you tried that? Any advice for this struggling momma? =/

When I had my oldest, stupid me quit my job. I ended up babysitting for a little while just to bring in some extra money since my husband wasn't making that much then.

I work from home and my husband works outside of home.

I have never paid for a job and never will. That's just me though. :)

go to school. being a single mom of 1, soon to be 2 babies will get you grants and you will get a decent amount of loans. my dad's student loans helped my parents out when i was little. he's still paying em back but he makes a ton so he always said it was worth taking out the extra. also PA, i know it's not ideal but if you can get enough support to get through school, your life could completely change! doing hobbies on the side to make your own money could be your confidence booster. also, get on BC until you find a good man for yourself! no more dead beat dads!  :-) good luck mama

It's pretty difficult to get a job nowadays. I was working a full time job last year and was let go, it took three months of applying almost everyday to find a good job. I don't see why your idea wouldn't work. Also to get your foot in the door you could sell Avon which has only a $10 start up fee or Mary Kay which is $100. Another idea is a staffing agency, most jobs they help you get are temps but a lot of places will hire you on full time if you do good work. Good Luck!!

I work at a gas station by my place. I'm also a caretaker for my apartment complex which means I get a free apartment for cleaning. The free apartment actually helps out a lot.
