Old Enough to Drink?

Does anyone who is under the age of 21 and has a kid think that it is unfair that we cannot drink yet? In my honest opinion, if we can pop out a child, raise it well, and make the decisions for that child that we think are the best than don't we deserve the right to drink alchohol? I'm tired of being the only one in my house who isn't allowed to drink! My sister keeps rubbing that fact in my face. Just because she is 24. But hey she is single with no family responsibilities. I on the otherhand am two months away from being 20 years old with a daughter who is 2 1/2 months away from being two. If I haven't screwed her up yet than obviously I must be doing something right! Sorry that is my vent for the moment. I just wanted someone elses opinion on whether or not they think it is fair for us.

No I don't think it is unfair..They have to draw the line somewhere. I understand your frustration though.

We all need to vent a little about our problems with the baby daddy’s so I created a group to do so. This is the link to my group if your interested http://www.cafemom.com/group/complaintdepartment

I think it should be 18.

You graduate high school, you can smoke ciggarettes, you can join the military. Why not alcohol?

I have to agree with you on this, even though I am 23. You can die for your country but you can't have a beer? You can fight in a war and can't have a beer, you can kill someone and be treated as an adult but can't drink like one? you can even buy, rent or be in porn but can't drink a beer while doing either. just like double standards with guys and girls. A guy can sleep with 50 girls and he's "the man" but a girl can sleep with 1 guy and she's a slut. go figure! just like you can get married at 18 or even before if your parents will sign but you can't drink on your honeymoon. But when we asked a teacher about this she replied with the human brain isn't fully developed until age 21 and alcohol messes with that. Well I know a few people that their brains were messed with loooooong before 21! haha!

Those are my thoughts to, I moved out at 18.  Married and had a baby when I was 19 why shouldn't I be able to buy alcohol.  But the average person does not always go this route and goes to college to live in the dorms and experince that kind of college life.  I solved the problem easy I just married someone who was of age and he'd buy the alcohol and we would have our drinks at home.  We don't drink anything like we  use to but something here and there.

My husband just turned 21 and i did not long ago as well but he brought up a good point before he turned 21 and it was this" if we are old enough to get married, raise our own children pay taxes on our own and own a house. F**K we can even go give up our lives and die for our country but we cant come home from a hard days work and have a beer legally. That's prety f**ked up!"

I dont really care, I drink socially and when Im upset. But they set the limt at 21 because that is when your brain is fully developed and, drinking causes brain shrinkage, and they could stunt/stop your brain from growing
