I'm Heather and I have been considering adoption for a few months now. Being a single woman, I know that many will disqualify me right away . In some ways I can understand this but I have so much love to give to a child and I am everyone's favorite "aunt" around here. I even have a room just for all the kids that come to visit and stay at my house. I have been picky about who I will date and/or marry so that I have a good husband who will be a good father. No luck yet.
I'm 36 and I work in higher education. I was a Spanish and English teacher for 7 years prior to working at colleges. I also teach English as a Second Language and CPR/First Aid classes as ways to give back to my community.
I live in South Central PA and I have a small but very supportive and close-knit family who would love to add another child to it. I am very supportive of open adoption since I can't imagine giving up my child and now knowing how he or she grew up. I am also very honest when talking to people about my life. I am not perfect and will not just give you the answers you want, but the truth, whether it be good, bad or ugly.
I recently went through a failed adoption. It was the most difficult thing I have ever been through but I'm hoping to get lucky and find someone else who will give me the chance to be a mommy. I am home study ready and my family is waiting to add one more miracle to it.
Because I am a single woman, I am not in a position to provide for the birthmother financially during the pregnancy. I wish that I were, but I will be honest about that up front.

Have you thought about fostering to adopt since you can't afford to support the birth mom. If your a foster parent first you can request children already available for adoption or check out the website that have children waiting. I'm not sure what age you are looking for, so can't help thier. I am also single and have adopted two children and had one failed adoption through foster care.
