Hi all,
I have some mommy guilt and a little bit of a pickle here. I have twins, they are 7 years old adn this summer they were introduced to the WII at someone's house. THEY LOVE IT. They have been asking for it and it's just too expensive, I've yet to find one I can realistically afford.
Nicky is my child with PDD-NOS, and he sometimes doesn't grasp things like others. But, having said that, both my twins are still whole hearted believers that even if Mommy and Daddy can't afford something, well hey Santa might bring it! ugh.
So here's my questions:
* 1 - anyone know where I can get a Nintendo Wii that will not cost me more than $100?
* 2 - how do I explain to both my kids, especially Nicky that sometimes Santa does not bring everything we ask for?
any thoughts and prayers would be appreciated. Thanks! - Teresa
maybe try looking on ebay, or maybe a video game store that sells used items...
My 4 year old thinks that Santa will bring her anything she asks for too... and I remember thinking that too when I was little. I have told my daughter that if Santa brings her everything this year then he won't have anything to bring her next year... maybe try that, or tell him that Santa has to work for the money that he spends on all the kids too and he is on a budget....

We have special needs children adopted from fostercare. With fostercare their names were placed on community trees and county agency trees for folks to purchase gifts for them. It was so overwhelming especially when we wanted to buy gifts and when we add all our extended family WOW. Some of our children would receive over 40 presents-felt very blessed about that, but overwhelmed. Now they are all officially ours and still thinking that this Christmas is going to be in abundance. We were very honest with them. Our children range from 18, 16, 12, 10, 8, 6, 2 and 1. We told them to make a list of 4 gifts each. We told them that from those 4 two would be chosen for them as we were not having any extra help this year with gifts. We also took them to the toy store and was able to speak with them about money and spending..making good choices in purchases. Even our 8 year old understood while he has bipolar and attachment disorder as well emotionally being the age of 5 yrs. old. We were quite pleased with their lists and that they took into consideration the cost of items. We don't have the Santa Claus problem because we don't make a big deal out of him because we've always told our children froma very young age that Jesus is the reason for the season and that family members purchase the gifts for one another. We had some of our children coming into our home believing in Santa Claus because this is all they ever knew of living from foster home to foster home so it was a very touchy subject; however since we didn't make a big deal they just assumed that Santa wasn't as big as everyone thinks he is. :) Instead of the Wii game you could substitute something such as Pac Man...I saw they still made those that hook up to the t.v. (WalMart and ToyRUs)
Thanks for your replies!
I will take into consideration other games that can hook up to tv,, etc.

theresa, i certainly understand you. my 6 year (almost 7) has pdd, and yes he does whole heartedly believe in santa, actually last year was his first "santa" year, b4 that he didnt get the concept. i tell him about jesus, but he doesnt grasp the "god, jesus and heaven " concept yet.
it's hard to say no... i know... i will keep my eyes open in case i see something... if that fails, there are alot of copy cat games, that respond to movement and motion like wii, they are cheaper, if i see any i'll get the info and send it to you.

I just saw a commercial for a VSmile VMotion.... it looks like a Wii style game for kids and I looked it up and it only costs about $50.... not sure if it is too young for your kids, but maybe an option....
