Hey, ladies.  I've got to ask you to please pray for my son.  Last night, he woke up trying and failing to catch his breath.  We sat him up and he was able to breathe.  As soon as he'd lie down flat again it would start again.  He's also incredibly hoarse.  We gave him Robbatussen (Idk if I have the spelling right) and our neighbor let us borrow her breathing treatment stuff.  We've been giving him those as well.  The only way he (or any of us) got any sleep last night was if he was propped up.  I was one scared mommy-I was terrified my baby would stop breathing.  One of my friends's baby stopped breathing and died a few months ago, so I was even more scared than usual.  We called the E.R. and they told us to wait and see if anything helped before we brought him in.  I called his Pediatrician this morning and they're booked until Monday, and after calling around for over an hour, I finally found someone who could take him in this afternoon.  Please pray for us.  I'm trying so hard to be strong right now, but I'm in tears.  I just want to know what he has so that we can get him better!  I appreciate it so much!  I'll update as soon as I can!  Thanks for reading!

Hey, ladies!  Sorry it's taken me so long-there's been so much to do tonight and I'm still not done!  Here's the skinny:  The doc said that Hayden has a sinus infection with a post-nasal drip.  Now, with the way the weather is constantly changing around here (we're in Louisiana, remember) that's very typical.  It's even typical that everyone's sick right now-the reason we couldn't get into his regular pediatrician is because they were booked until Monday.  What was so surprising is how quickly it crept up-he's never had anything come on that fast before!  I guess he was feeling bad last night, though, because he got awful whiney and we'd figured that he was just cranky.  I guess he wasn't feeling good then, but he couldn't tell us.  Anyway.  They checked his oxygen levels twice and they're all good.  Also, as far as they know, there's nothing on his chest.  Of course, there's always the chance, but since he doesn't understand "Take a deep breath", then we have to go by what they can hear with normal breaths.  However, the doc gave him antibiotics, steroids, antihistamine, and one other medicine.  He only takes 3 out of the 4 once a day for 5 days, so they seem pretty strong.  I gave him 2 when we got home, and he was tired, so I put him down for a nap.  He was able to sleep in his bed on his back breathing easily!  He doesn't even sound hoarse anymore.  We gave him the other 2 meds after dinner and he already seems completely back to normal.  Also, the doc said if he sleeps good tonight, he can go back to school tomorrow.  I'm so relieved!  Thank you all so much for reading and praying and sending us well wishes!

You are in our prayers.  My son has central apnea and we deal with this on a regular basis.  PLEASE please have the docs check for reflux.  Sounds like he is aspirating fluids that come up from his tummy while laying down.  A infant wedge under his mattress may help.  The docs can do a sleep study and a pH probe to find out what is happening.  Please write me and keep me updated.  I will help you anyway I can!!!!
