OK, I have 5 boys. When it comes to markers & such, my 5 year old is the WORST (but not the youngest) My 2 year old takes a VERY close 2nd. I've attached a photo, cuz I can't get it out!!!! I've tried everything I can think of. I most recently did the Woolite rug stick, twice, to no avail. It lightned up some of the "washable" marker that's on the floor. It's hard to see, but the alphabet is written twice in green marker on the lower 1/2 of the picture. That part isn't so terrible because I can barely see it. IT's the big black circle's on the floor, & the darker marker next to their barn (the markers & crayons & such are the reason I haven't painted their barn yet...they keep coloring on it, so why paint it nice?! lol) The big blue line next to the barn is actually from their hamper. They're also very good at taking glasses of water & dumping them wherever (glasses have now been banned from every room except the kitchen & dining room)...they used to have a blue wicker hamper). The black circles next to the bed are from a bug making thing of theirs (kind of like an easy bake oven, but for boys). That's the liquid that you put into the molds to make the bugs. Something that was taken away from them, but they still managed to find & destroy their carpet with!! I've been told to try a cheap hairspray (like aquanet), but i'm afraid everything's going to get sticky & attract more dirt...PLEASE help me!!!!!

OK - so we gave up on the carpet - thanks for the 2 of you that tried to help, but none of the suggestions worked!!! :( I finally gave up! I'm currently in the process of ripping out the carpet & using less than $200 of our income tax refund to replace the floor with a wood-look vinyl flooring.  Everything we thought of was going to be so expensive because it's a 12' x 16' room!! So, at 89 cents/sq foot, we spent $192 on a glueless vinyl. Not too shabby in my opinion!! Hopefully they'll keep it clean, & looking nice!! I'll post pics as soon as I'm finished!!!

Thanks again for the help!!!

My youngest dd found a marker and snuck it into her room one day and when I went to get her up from her nap she had colored the walls, the carpet, her sheets, herself and her pajamas. And they weren't just regular crayola washable markers. Magic erasers didn't take it off and I wasn't sure what I was going to use on the carpet. It never came out of the sheets. I finally used rubbing alcohol with a scrubbie sponge on the walls, with will also take off some paint so beware. And then I used it with towels on the carpet. It is pretty much gone out of the carpet. You can still see it on the walls some but that's because I didn't over scrub that because I didn't want to take all the paint off with it. That's my best suggestion! Hope it helps!!! I feel your pain! LOL
