I am SO anxious to start planting!!!  I have one row of cabbage and broccoli already, and am planning to have all these in my garden, and probably a few more that I'm forgetting:

corn
lettuce(several varieties)
spinach
tomatoes
radishes
cilantro
parsley
chives
onions
potatoes
green beans
wax beans
sugar snap peas
bell peppers
hot peppers
carrots
cucumbers
watermelon
cantaloupe
green onion
zucchini
yellow squash

so what are you girls planting??

I love to see seedlings sproutng and it's such a joy to know that your own hands can tend to and care for food!!!

I also plan to put flowers IN the vegetable garden...nasturtiums, sunflowers, daisies, etc.....

Your hands will surely be full this summer.  Do you can or freeze or both?
I plan on putting in a small area here at our house.  I like using my flower beds for my herbs.  Most of them flower and they look nice with the blooms.  And I have found that if you leave your roots to chives they come back next year with more.  Guess it depends on where you live too as far as winter weather.  Here we are not yet ready to plant,  still gets to cold at night and stays chilly during the day.  But plan on tomatoes, letttuce, onions, radishes, green beans, peppers, for small area.  Corn from the farm.

I can't wait, either. We can't even get ours plowed, because it has been so wet, and we don't have a dry forecast insight!   I plan to plant:
tomatoes- from the plant
zucchini, spaghetti squash, birdhouse gourds and watermelon, and cabbage from seeds- maybe some okra too...
bell, jalapeno, banana and habenero peppers from plants
eggplant, not sure what I will start it with- I have done both
green beans, onions and sweet corn

Oh- yeah- I ordered loofah seeds- like the thing you, use inthe bath. I heard they are so easy. guess I'll give it a try!

We also have 2 asparagus patches- I love asparagus!

I too, plant flowers in the garden- I usually stick with zinnias and sunflowers.
I am so excited that you already have some in! good luck!

We have 500 strawberries in and 500 more going in this April.  We also have 5 red raspberries and I think we are going to get 50 black raspberries this year.  I already got my seedlings started with cherry tomatoes, beefsteak tomatoes, cucumbers, butternut squash, onions, and okra.  I plan on getting some peppers and pickles.  I am looking forward to canning this year.  It will be my first time.

I froze some last year, but this year will be my first year canning....I love to make tomato sauce for pasta and such...and I love the idea of having FOOD in my pantry and my freezer!  (therefore saving $$ from having to drive to the store (with diesel at over $4.00 gallon here) and also from having to buy it and KNOWING for sure, what is IN my food!)

So far I only have broccoli and cabbage planted, it started to rain right after that, and hubby isn't done tilling up the dirt....so, I wait.

I find this link about growing garlic, which I've never done before but I WANT to!!!

anyone here ever grow their own?

We are planting the things that we eat alot of, we learned to do that since we have limited space the cows can't get to, lol.

We plant, Tomatoes, cucumbers, and yellow squash every year. Beacuse we eat a ton of it.    I want to try carrots this year also.hmmmmmmm

I mostly plant flowers, and I am on lots of seed swaps for flowers, and veggies.

Oh, I am also planting melons this year too............or going to try anyway.

I have planted garlic.  The searches I have done all said to plant in the fall.  Kind of like wheat.  Then like with onions the tops fall over and you dig them out.  They were kind of small.  But so yummy.  I planted about 12.  They are now gone and I did not plant any for this year (bummer).  The great thing about homegrown is that they are not refridgerated and they last lots longer than store bought.  Which are refridgerated.  Never refridgerate garlic.

I like to plant green peppers, potatoes, sweet corn,  yellow squash and carrots for the kids. Even though the carrots end up feeding the rabbits.lol! I love to garden and my husband thinks it's a pain in ---. It's hard keeping the animals out of it though. I haven't really decided where to have it this year yet.

I have never planted a garden but am planning to this year. With food prices sky rocketing I think it will be good for us to do so. We have the dairy cows so there is our milk, we raise beef and always buy a pig from a friend of ours, so there is our meat. Just veggies we need. I don't know what I am going to plant yet, but plan on buying seeds on my lunch break today! :0)
