Freedom to eat, raise or grow...HR 875 may take it away. (PIOG)

Greetings,

If you, like me, either prefer to buy organic foods (when we can), or purchase from farmers markets, or plant gardens (I hope for a large one this year), then the following links may interest you.  The HR 875, although directed at large-scale farms at the present, may very well affect the small farmers (produce and meat) and even personally grown and consumed foods in the future.  In our spiraling towards fascism or socialism, it is not a far stretch to see these bills getting passed unknown to the general masses.  In communist countries, the lay person is hard-pressed to even find fresh produce...so it is not unfathomable to see this looming in our future if bills like this get passed.  The links I've provided are just a quick glimpse in lay terms as to the ramifications of "we the people" not getting involved enough to at least say "NO" to our representatives.  I looked up the bill (you can google it and see for yourself how confusing the amendment is) and as it references back and forth to other bills and amendments it is clear that a government claiming the desire of transparency is simply paying lip service to the people.  There are other similar bills (HR 759 and S 425) you can look for also (even on youtube) if this sparks your interest to be involved in our "freedom" to eat what we want, from whom we want, and know exactly how it is grown and choose organic if we desire.

This is a very two sided debate.  The up side is it will help people stay healthier with all the e-coli going around.   The down side is the small produce farmers who roadside sell will be shut down.  I for one have decided to grow as much of my own as I can,  and this winter I am going to experiment inside veggies like house plants.  I am terrified of salmonella too.  There are way too many outbreaks not to worry for the future.  Taking care of ourselves start with us at home.  Because of the outbreaks,  I find I buy more from stores now which they have to have monitored suppliers now.  And I don't trust some of those either.  It's made for shopping for healthy food almost nonexistent.
