We bought 11 hens and 2 roosters (as chicks) last October. They did well and started laying in March. Last week 3 hens died mysteriously (no predator). Now of the 8 remaining hens only 3 are laying. Does anyone know what this could be?

Not sure what would cause young ones to just die. Sometimes they do, but do you have a snake living nearby. If something else got them, most likely you wouldn't find much left. But sometimes snakes kill them if they have a nest with young close by. Soemtimes the others will get scared and quit laying. I'd be on the look out to see what is around them. good luck, and let us know what happened, would ya.
