Celebrating God's Love through Valentine's Day

We have several Valentine Posts on this board... great craft ideas, creative ways to say I love You, and Valentine Bible Verses... as well as ideas for DH and the kiddos.  Be sure to check them out if you haven't.

In this post, let's talk about creative ways to share God's Love at Valentine's!

I'll get the ball rolling:
1) I shared this in another post, but will repeat it here. One year, when I was a child, we fixed a special dinner and everyone dressed up. We were then assigned to write one "I love you because..." letter for each member in our family. I still have my letters. I believe one way we share God's love is simply by loving each other and our family.

2) We have a couple elderly women who are 'adopted Grandma's" for our family. One of them is not a Christian, the other is, this year, I'm inviting them for lunch one afternoon in February and giving them homemade Valentine's and cookies and a Large Print Bible.

3) Make a special "Valentine's Table Cloth"... buy a solid table cloth and fabric paint. Stencil hearts on the table cloth. Then, using fabric markers, let each member of the family write their favorite love scriptures. Or, in our case, DH and I will start the ball rolling until Emily and Kayla are old enough to contribute.

Another idea.....
"Banner over me is Love"

Cut out paper hearts and write love letters to Jesus on them, why you love your family, love verses.... then string them up and hang them like a banner.

I found a Happy Birthday banner on marthastewart.com --- use the same idea to make your banner,  but make hearts for Valentine's Day.

I found this poem actually on a craft from the Oriental Trading Company...but I thought it was so GREAT, I just had to share it....

Jesus please be my Valentine!
You make my life complete.
I can take my cares to You
And lay them at Your feet!

You give to me the blessings,
That I cannot live without!
This is the kind of love
That Valentine's is all about!

Wow, those are some really good ideas.  I never thought of some of them before.  Thanks for sharing!  I LOVE the Valentine from Jesus, too!
