Foster / Adoptive Parenting
We are an "Approved Adoptive Family".
We got our approval letter from our state office last Friday!
We are excited but a bit discouraged by the way our state matches families. I can see this taking a REALLY long time. Only our state office knows who the children are that are available. Our worker only has a list of the children's names and what county they are in...no age, sex, race, dx, siblings...So we must wait on the state office to find us a child. The only children we can know about are the few they choose to put on the photolistings.
Many people that I communicate with through blogging have suggested that we go out of state. When I inquired about that I was told that if we inquire about a child out of state my state puts my homestudy on hold for 3 months and we can only inquire about one child at a time so we are going to give our state several months to match us.
We have decided to foster while we are waiting for a match.
Got a call to foster a 6m old little boy Monday but we said no because he has a very serious medical condition that we didn't feel equiped to handle.
Don't get on here as much anymore but I do update our family blog almost daily. It is about our adoption/foster journey and our family in general: nomoremoves.blogspot.com

by bleumonster on Aug. 30, 2008 at 3:35 AMThat's kind of an odd way of doing things. I went on adoptuskids and couldn't find Alabama kids either except a couple 'featured'. Congrats on the approval. Good luck! Kim |
