My husband and I are ready to adopt. i have PCOS and we tried to conceive for four years and now im ready to move on. A friend is on her 3rd pregnancy and lost her other two children to DCFS, so she wants to give this one up for adoption because she knows she cant care for it. She chose us to be the parents as long as we agree to an open adoption, which is fine with us. Now im trying to figure how to begin this process. we want all the paper work to be ready before the baby is born so that we can just bring the baby home. Shes about 19 weeks along so we need to act fast. How do I begin? Who do I contact for a home study? I live in Illinois and we are doing an independent adoption. Thank You so much.
HELLO
HOW WONDERFUL FOR YOUR FAMILY! WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED? HERE IS SOME ADVICE I CAN GIVE YOU. I AM HOPING TO FIND MY SPECIAL CHILD TOO....!
YOU MUST CONTACT AN ATTORNEY AND TELL HIM YOU WANT TO DO A PRIVATE INDEPENDENT ADOPTION COSTS SHOULD BE LOW(3000-5000).
THEN YOU NEED A HOMESTUDY. THIS IS DONE BY A SOCIAL WORKER AND IT MUST BE DONE NO MATTER WHAT. I FOUND MINE THRU AN ADOPTION AGENCY. HE WAS INDEPENDENT. EACH STATE IS DIFFERENT AS TO WHAT THEY REQ.
HOPE THIS HELPS! I AM IN FLORIDA
We are in Illinois but we are originally from florida too. The Fort Myers area! Good luck to u too!
