Hey, everyone!

I've had several folks mention they'd like to get more information outside of our group regarding foster/adoptive placement, care, education, and the like.

Feel free to post links to other sites you may have found helpful. Some suggestions are:

Foster Parent Continuing Education sites (be SURE to check with your SW / CW to see if they will accept the units BEFORE you sign up for classes!! Keep in mind that for some CEUs, there may be a fee.)

Adoptive Parent Support sites.

Children with Special Needs sites.

Any other sites links you may feel are helpful.

I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO DELETE INAPPROPRIATE LINKS WITHOUT WARNING.

Let me know what y'all think.

Thanks!

  • Thank you very much, Valerie.

Hey all, I am FPC Val.  I work with parents and social workers every day who are seeking information and training that will help them with their challenges by using online training videos, books, games for children, and life skills resources for teens... we don't advertise our resources and rely upon your agencies to tell you about us.  Many agencies haven't found us yet, (that's where I come in) and many more parents are finding us on their own - last count was 8,236 parents in the last two years.  I'm starting to use blogs and with the help of site monitors like Valerie I will learn how to speak with you too and become like a library for the village.

An example of why I jumped in, for instance, is that I see so many, and righfully so, moms writing about the challenges of meeting with birth mothers.  Lots of frustration there... some of our information may help with this..

I read the different topics and know that we have something in our resources that can help.  Please don't hesitate to drop me an email and I can point you in a direction - if I can't I can probably find someone who can.  I'm here to help... and again.. bless you for fostering... ya'll get a set of wings for this!  Thanks again Valerie... please teach me how to interact in the best ways.  I'm all ears/eyes.

    Best,
    V~

  • Contact Social Services in your city. I’m in Southern Virginia (VA Beach) and Social Services provide all the classes, training, and support. I am currently in FP Classes and I love every single class because we have a wonderful and entertaining teacher. If you have any more questions, please let me know. • Growing Homes is located in South Carolina - contact Sitrenia McDaniel
smcdaniel@growinghomese.com  803-791-5513  Tell her Val from Foster Parent College sent you.  If she can't help you get ahold of me again and I'll find another.  I like Sitrenia - she's upbeat, willing to tackle tough challenges and has been great to work with.
