Hello!

I'm so glad you decided to peek in the window and see who's hanging around. Pull up a chair and stay a while. The coffee's hot, the weather's nice, and the conversations are warm.

Let us know who you are, how you got here on your journey, what some of your challenges are, and of course--all about your kids!  We're all ears!

Looking forward to hearing from you.

  • Wow!  I wish I had found this group earlier!!

DH and I have been married almost 4 years.  This is his second marriage (FW died of cancer) and my first.  He has a son who is now 15.  He is awesome (when he doesn't have the teenage attitude).

Shortly after our marriage, we decided to start a family so I went off BC.  My period went haywire to say the least!!  They would last for a month and then skip a month.  After many tests from the dr. no problem could be diagnosed.  We decided to adopt and went the international route.  We were concerned about our ages (both in our 40s) and the scary stuff from TV movies.  Our assoc. minister and his wife had adopted and we love Sophie.  After talking to them about their experiences, we began the process to adopt from Vietnam.

After a long and exhausting process, our stuff finally left for VN in July, 2008.  We were worried because there was rumors about it closing.  Our agency felt sure they would honor all dossiers in the country.  In September, it did close and we found out they were not going to honor those dossiers.  Our journey to adoption came to a screeching halt!

After many tears, we decided to call a fertility specialists and see if we could get pregnant.  After testing both of us, it was discovered that I didn't ovulate.  I had about a 0.05% chance of getting pregnant.  We discussed in-vitro but decided that if we were going to spend all that money, we wanted to be sure we would get a baby.

After more research, we finally signed on with Adoption Law Network based in CA.  We are now waiting for a call from them that a child has been born or we have been selected by a birthmother.  As you know, the wait is LONG and tiring.

I am excited that I found a group where I can get support and help!!!!

  • I am very in awe by everyone on this board.  After some struggle with infertility, I have three beautiful boys age 2-5.  I would love in the future to adopt a girl.  My husband is open, but I am definitely much more up to it than he.  I hope to figure out from this board what our family really needs and wants and how to achieve it.
