Well since you asked, lemme see if I can help! :)

1. Dont put all your eggs in one basket. Try artfire, etsy, crobbies.com, madeitmyself, craigslist (be careful), paypal buttons on your blog, craft shows, etc.

2. Join cafemom groups to suit you. We have both a Cafemom Etsy Moms group and an Artfire Cafemom Team (look on my profile in my groups you'll see them)

3. Check out www.blockheadradiolive.com we are all about exposing artisans. Wed nights at 9 pm eastern is Mom's Cafe where I cohost a show about being both a mom/artisan and how to better your family/biz life.

4. Take EXCELLENT pics! Get hte book "digital photgraphy for dummies" and learn! Best way to take pics: outside in diffused lighting (no direct sunlight) on macro setting (no flash), on a PLAIN or SOFTLY decorated background. Use a lightbox if you can. Take a TON of shots from variuos angles. Assume for each photo session you'll take 10-20 shots of each item and get maybe 5 good ones.

5. All those selling veneus are great but they do not SELL you..YOU have to sell you. Carry biz cards, put a vinyl sticker on yoru car with your info. Mail out postcards (www.vistaprint.com www.moo.com www.overnightprinting.com)

6. Blog. Constantly. Use these things for your blog:

feedburner

entrecard

follow me feature

giveaways (offer them, host other giveaways on your blog)

do not use auto music on your blog

leave comments on other blogs

7. stay at it! Do it because you LOVE to do it, not bc you HAVE to. If running a business doesnt make you happy....its not worth it! :)

Feel free to pm me with an y questions. Im no pro but I try! :)

 Hi,

I have a couple of home business's and I place my cards in the local stores, you have to ask if it's ok that you place them there or if they can put them into customers check out bags.

I have many more idea's if you would like. there are also places you are not allowed to put our info and that will get you into trouble. so please make sure you always ask before putting business cards anywhere.

One more is at the libraries. hope this helps.

Advertise by using a drawing for one of your more expensive items as a prize.  You can connect this with a charity event, locally.  This gives you credibility as you are hopefully bringing more people to the event, you will be able to dispense fliers, describing not only the prize to be won, but also your store.  Take commissioned work from other artists and encourage them to promote your store so their own works will sell, as well as yours.  Make yourself known publicly.  Do an art class at the school, museum, or library for free and offer coupons at the end for the kids to give thier moms.  Donate a few items to local charities.  Be sure to have items of all price ranges.

You sound like a pro to me! Thanks for the tips, although it wasn't my question. =)
