Hello all! I have a question for those who may know something about soy allergies. My daughter is allergic to egg, milk, wheat, and peanut. Our allergist double check the soy on the skin and RAST test and it came up negative (in may 08) But she was on Nutramigen formula for allergies and gerd and we were recently given the chance to switch to a soy formula and then to soy milk now for 1 week. Getting off nutragigen actually made her skin almost perfect because it does have milk derietives, but its broken down so small that its the easiest to digest. Works great for milk allergy and other problems but since she has been on soy products (soy silk yogurt, and organic soymilk) she has been sick, her immune system sucks she has been sick with something new for the past 2+ months and has lost over a pound and a half. Partially because she has been Ill but I have had a few people tell me infants can develope a soy allergy after a certain ammount of exposer. Because her other allergies are severe I am wondering if this is true and I should get her re-checked on soy? Does anyone know? Has anyone heard similiar instances? My allergist is amazing one of the very best and I am sure he would check again I just wanted to see if there were others out there who had that happen! Thanks! Sorry this is so long!!
My identical twin girls are allergic to wheat, dairy, eggs, beef, squash and bananas. They were on nutramigen as babies. They could not handle dairy or soy formulas. They test negative for soy in the RAST test (both the immediate and delayed) but anytime they eat certain soy products (cheese, yogurt, milk, etc) or any kind of beans they have symptoms. Our doctor told us that even if they don't test positive they can have an intolerance and to avoid it so we do.
