Hi all,
Let me say straight off, that I am a novelist, and I write for two publishers and one of those publishers is Harlequin. Let me also say that nearly all of my friends are romance writers and amazing women (and moms).
You'd think that because I write romance novels (and women's fiction) for a living, I wouldn't want to read it in my free time but you're wrong. I love romance, and I read everything....from paranormal (think Christine Feehan) to historical romance (like Stephanie Laurens and Eloisa James) to contemporary sexy romances (i.e. Carly Philips).
But the problem with discussing romance novels with my author friends is that they're....authors...and we can't seem to get a good juicy discussion going. Instead we end of talking shop, like how to write better, or what our editor or agent wants us to do. So I've started a book group here at CafeMom for moms who love to read, and chat about, the books they're reading.
Please jump in, post, introduce yourself. It's lonely being the only one here!

Hi Jane,
Thanks for telling me about this website and the invitation to the group! Like you, I'm an avid reader of romance novels and read across the board as well. I'd love to meet other Moms who squeeze in time read even with a full or hectic schedule -- A girl can never have enough reader friends!
I've just started reading Diana Hamilton's THE KOUVARIS MARRIAGE. Have you read it? It was recommended by a friend who was really impressed with it. Up next will be THERE GOES THE BRIDE by Lori Wilde.
It will be interesting to hear what everyone else is reading as more people join and I'm looking forward to some great discussions.

Hi Girls,
I am really excited about a Romance Book Club. When you don't have any in your life you gotta get it from somewhere, right? LOL My husband's a softie, but needs help in the romance dept. So how does this work? We read seperate books and tell each other about them, or are we going to be reading one book and discuss that one? Can't wait to get started.

Hi Jenn (and Lee!), welcome. :)
I don't really have a set structure in mind. I was thinking we could do things however the group wanted...i.e. talk about what we're reading now, and evolve into having a group pick and then read and discuss that, or just keep it loose. What do you think? What do you want?
I know I'm always looking for new authors and recommendations for great books.
Some of my favorite romance authors are:
Christine Feehan
Loretta Chase
Susan Wiggs
Eloisa James
Stephanie Laurens
Luanne Rice
I also love chick lit/mom lit, too (Jenner Weiner, Marian Keyes, Jane Green, Sophis Kinsella).
Who do you like to read?

Hi Jane, Ladies!
Jane, I followed the breadcrumb trail here from your site. It's great!
I'm a huge reader; all varieties. My favorites are romantic suspense and non-fiction. I was an RT reviewer (Desire & Sil. Romance lines) a few years back, and also did author promotions until recently when family obligations took precedence.
We literally just moved into a new home, and in digging out from my mountain of boxes, I haven't had a chance to read in weeks. Two nights ago I started JoAnn Ross' No Safe Place, and am enjoying it.
Thank you for opening the new book nook!

Hey Kesha,
So glad to see you here! I like Sherriyln Kenyon, too. She's great, and Karen Marie Moening is another of my favorite authors.
I haven't read JR Ward yet but I'm hearing so much about Ward. (Lee, didn't you tell me you really like JR Ward, too???) Which one should I start with?
Also the last author you mentioned, tell me more about the series! Should I read them in order?
And if I went to the bookstore today and could only buy one book today, what would be your top pick? :)

Hi Everyone!
I'm a Jenn too. Followed the trail of breadcrumbs and so glad to be here! It seems that I love a lot of the same authors as well. I'll also add to them with some of my favorites - although some aren't always shelved under romance they have some aspect of that or I wouldn't love them:
-Jennifer Crusie
-Janet Evanovich
-Laurell K. Hamilton(mostly though the earlier books - haven't read the new series or the more recent in the Anita Blake series)
-Rachel Burcell
-Nalini Singh(new find for me - VERY sexy & hot reads - sort of a cross between paranormal & sci fi in my mind).
-Lisa Gardner
-Jennifer Lippman
-Karin Slaughter
-Sophie Kinsella(she makes me laugh)
I also love a lot of the other authors that were mentioned in the previous posts! Oh yes - no one is listing these but my favorite category authors - mainly Harlequins, are:
-Jane Porter(of course)
-Lucy Monroe(although I love her single titles as well)
-Helen Bianchin
-Trish Morey(newer find for me)
-Diana Palmer(although sometimes it depends on the book)
Anyway, I look forward to getting to know everyone! Jane, thanks for starting this group!
OH - Lee - I did read The Kouvaris Marriage and I remember I really enjoyed it, but I'll have to look back at it to be able to remember the specifics.

Okay, what's up here?
My above post looked really nice when I wrote it - paragraphs and spacing and such but posted without any of that. Do I need to use html code or something to get it to look right? Maybe it's the browser I'm using? GRRR.
Okay, just figured it out and fixed it - turns out I use Safari on my mac and this site does NOT like that, so I downloaded Firefox and am using that now and I think it's working! Yeah!

Good Morning!
Thanks for the invite Jane, this looks like fun.
A little bit about me: My name is Danielle. I'm 33 years old and have been married for 15 years. I'm a stay at home mom with 4 children- although why they call it stay at HOME mom I'll never know but I'm always going somewhere. Anyway, I'm an aspiring romance novelist and I, too, love to read romance. I've been collecting Harlequin Romance books since I was a kid so when I decided to try and write a book- I've always loved to write- I figured it would be easier to write what I love to read.
Currently I have one book out with a publisher and I'm working on revisions for that book so hopefully it'll be in print sometime in the near future. YAY!!

Hey Jane!
Yes you have to read them in order, because one the end always leave u hanging. Its about a woman name Riley Jensen who is half vampire and half werewolf who has some unique abilities! She also has some interesting love interest!! I cant tell u too much cause I'll give it away but lets just say she is looking for her true mate shes not shy about experimenting!! Its full of action, mystery, drama, and well...sex. I promise u wont be disappointed.
In order: 1. Full Moon Rising
2. Kissing Sun
3. Tempting Evil
The next one comes out April First: Dangerous Games! That's what I love about this series one come out a month instead of every 6 or 7.
