Hi all,
Let me say straight off, that I am a novelist, and I write for two publishers and one of those publishers is Harlequin. Let me also say that nearly all of my friends are romance writers and amazing women (and moms).
You'd think that because I write romance novels (and women's fiction) for a living, I wouldn't want to read it in my free time but you're wrong. I love romance, and I read everything....from paranormal (think Christine Feehan) to historical romance (like Stephanie Laurens and Eloisa James) to contemporary sexy romances (i.e. Carly Philips).
But the problem with discussing romance novels with my author friends is that they're....authors...and we can't seem to get a good juicy discussion going. Instead we end of talking shop, like how to write better, or what our editor or agent wants us to do. So I've started a book group here at CafeMom for moms who love to read, and chat about, the books they're reading.
Please jump in, post, introduce yourself. It's lonely being the only one here!

Hi. I started reading romance probably 4-5 years ago. Haven't stopped since. I have also since written one complete romance book, and working on a sequel to it. I love Janet Dailey and Diana Palmer and such... I have read the Calder saga probably 4 times or more. So yeah... hello!
Hi guys,
I am glad that I found this group because I love romance! I am single mom of five and reading is by far my favorite form of escapism. My favorite writers are Diana Palmer, Penny Jordan, Lucy Monroe, Lynne Graham,Christine Feehan, Lisa Kleypas,Nicole Jordan, Brenda Jackson, and Beverly Jenkins.Just finished reading Christine Feehan's Burning Wild. It was a Verrrrrrrry Gooooood read!
Zander is one of my favorite boy names EVER! Probably because I was a huge Buffy fan in high school. My son's name is Alex. I couldn't convince my husband to go with Zander as a nickname instead of Alex. Stupid husband! ;)

Hi Jane! I'm Aimee. I'm a reading fiend...I mostly read paranormal romance, historical romance, and Urban Fantasy. I'm really looking forward to having someone to discuss some of the books i've read!
Hello All,
My name is Shannon. I am a 34 year old, soon to be working mom of a beautiful 18 month old.
I love romance novels. I am so glad to find a place that does not look down on them. I get a lot of crap sometimes for my reading choices, but I find them to be a great way to escape.
Whenever I need to relax and want a good read, I know I can find what I am looking for in a romance novel.
Some of my favorite authors are: Johanna Lindsey, Nora Roberts, Lynn Kurland, Jayne Ann Krentz and all of her pen names, Catherine Coulter and many others.
I hope to find some new authors here that I will love as well.

Hey there!
My name is Jillian and I am new to the group and cafemom. I am a SAH momma/aspiring writer, and have a 7 month old boy named Andrew-James Richard, AJ for short.
I was actually very excited to see a group like this because I know absolutely no one who reads romance novels, so I never have anyone to talk about the books I have read and love... I really stick to Regency/Victorian Historicals. The time period just interests me to no end. I have read a few contemporaries, but I really prefer the period pieces.
My favorite authors are Julie Garwood, Lisa Kleypas, Julia Quinn, Sabrina Jeffries, and a few others I am starting to branch out on. But I have literally reread the entire libraries of Julie Garwood and Lisa Kleypas more times than I can count. I usually take my afternoon break with a book, and snuggle in bed before going to sleep for a half hour to vegg out.
Glad to see some more mommies like me out there who enjoy reading romance!

Aloha all!
I am so glad I found you! Thank you for letting me join, I have been an avid reader of romance books for years especially romance stories from historical times and countries! I started reading the Maitland Maternity series, but not in sequence (bought the books at a garage sale). I'm trying to find the earlier stories and am still on the hunt. And I've read and enjoyed Jane Porter's books as well.
I need to tell you all this though....I stopped reading romance novels for a long time because I happened to have an opportunity to meet an author famous for her historical romance stories. I was so excited to meet her because I read every single one of her books. I wasn't going to ask for her autograph, just to let her know how much I loved her stories and to keep up the good work but when I approached her, she pushed her way through the crowd and mumbled something about ungrateful bunch....I won't go on but needless to say, I was disheartened. I understand, she may have been under stress but she didn't need to be rude...maybe I'm naive but she really blew it for me.
Then, a friend invited me to her home, she was having a garage sale (just divorced, she needed to get rid of "stuff"). It was there I saw the Maitland series....and other romance novels so I bought a bunch (like two boxes full....it's a good thing I have an understanding hubby) and my love for romance stories have been restored.
Thank you Jane for this book club! I look forward to meeting everyone!

Hi!
Just found your group and it looks just like what I need. I'm an avid romance reader and have been since my high school days. (I'm 41 now.) I started out reading Johanna Lindsey and Loveswepts... now I'm into Nora Roberts, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Cherry Adair, Elizabeth Lowell, Amanda Quick, Jayne Ann Krentz, Kay Hooper, Christine Feehan, Laurell K. Hamilton..... none of which write nearly fast enough for me! I love finding new authors, which is what I'm hoping this group will help me do :).
