Roughly how many books do you own?

Do you purchase them new, used, or borrow from library?

If you buy them, what do you do with them when you finish reading them -- keep or re-sell?

Just thought it would be interesting to see what everyone does with their books.  :)  Here are my answers to the above...

~ I have a total of about 60 books in my collection right now (some read, some unread).

~ I purchase them new.

~ So far I've kept everything I've read, but there are a few I'd be willing to part with.  The ones I'm sure I'll never read again.

I think I have something roughly around 60-70 books (?).  However, I only buy/keep the books that really get to me/ones I truly LOVE (not a lot of storage room in our small home).  They're a mixture of new & used books and hard & paper backs.  I, too, think it's a waste of money to buy new books that I'll read in 2-3 days, unless it's one that I'll read over and over throughout the coming years.  Therefore, I normally get my books from a combination of the library and a paperback excahnge.  I've always got a stack of books to choose from depending on my mood.

I also get my books on CD from the library and upload them into my iTunes so I can listen to them on my iPod at work.  It's wonderful to be able to read one book and relive another book that I love.

This me except for how many books I have. I have a whole wall of floor to ceiling book cases. So I would say at least 250+ there. Then I have small book case in my bedroom so maybe another 30 or so and then some that are stacked around.

The only thing I would add to where I get mine is from friends too. We trade and pass around books too. Boy am I glad im not the only one who has so many books. lol My hubby just shakes his head about it!!! Exspecially when we moved. lol

  • WOW!!!! I am so shocked at some of you. LOL I love my romance novels, but I usually get them from the library or off of paperbackswap.com. Then when I am done reading them, I either return them to the library, or repost them on PBS. It's a free site and a great way to get books. I also trade a lot with my mom and mother in law.

  • Oh man... too many books to even count. We buy them new, used, at yard sales, at books stores. Just everywhere.

As for romance only books, I probably have somewhere around 30-50.

  • I'd say probably 50 without actually counting. My book number varies as a friend and I trade books for keeps back and forth. I buy some new, I get alot at garage sales. Most places I've seen have brand new books for $1 each, 50 cents each, 25 cents each, and one I went to last weekend had three books for $1. I love a good deal.,

I started out keeping them but I found out you can have a lot of money in them fast So now if I know I wont reread them I will sell them on ebay..

  • At this moment, I have at least 12 books in my library pile PLUS 250+ books on my TBR shelves and at least that many stored away for future re-reading (though I am slowly going thru these and getting rid of some)

  • I have about 300 books and adding more everychance I get!  I get most of my books used but I do buy some new if it is one in a series that I can't find.

  • Roughly how many books do you own? I have hundreds

Do you purchase them new, used, or borrow from library? I buy them usually from the used bookstore.  New if I can't wait to read a recent novel

If you buy them, what do you do with them when you finish reading them -- keep or re-sell?  I keep my favourite authors and will read them again and again.  Some will go back to the bookstore, others are passed on to friends or are sent to the cabin for summer reading.

When you have a special needs child, it is like floating in the ocean. You will have highs when you ride the top of the wave and move forward and lows when the wave crashes over you and sucks you back. As you are riding a low wave of sadness, frustration & disappointment, just keep in mind the next wave will take you back up and move you forward once more.

  • I own roughly 80 books.  I borrow a lot of the books I read from the library.  There are some authors that I love...those I buy.  I get the new, or from the used book store.  I also go thrift store and yard sale hunting for books.  That's how I start on new authors and series.  If I don't like it, then I trade them at the used book store for credit.  I keep the ones that I really loved.....that way I can get away with the keeping only one bookshelf.....for now.  But a lot of books cycle through my house between the library and the ones that I trade in for new ones.  I'm horrible actually.
