talked to my mother in law

I told my mother in law that I am fasting and praying for God's provisions for school for next year. I told her that we looked at a charter school, the elementry school I went to, and that I want to homeschool. She said that its good I'm praying but to keep in mind DH's opinion, even though he doesn't pray about it (DH is not a Christain). He does not want to homeschool. She also said that what she knows from homeschooling is not good and that she fully supports the public school system. After that we both dropped the conversation, but boy I wanted to explode! I just don't get it.

I'm assuming (correct me if I'm wrong) that your MIL isn't Christian neither?    I assume that because she supports the public school systems and if you look at the public schools they are taking Christian rights away more and more everyday.

I understand there are many Christians that go to public school and do just fine.  However, for MY family we disagree with the public school system on many different reasons and refuse to put our Children back in there.

I don't have much advice because that needs to come from God and not me.  I am here to support you in whichever way you go.  You are still in my prayers.

How much influence does your MIL have over your DH? Maybe this is why DH is standing so firm in his opinion of it. ..Just a thought.

I"m sorry :( Homeschooling is not the norm, so many people don't understand it. Just like following Christ, when you homeschool, you are always going to face opposition from those who don't understand it.

My opinion, a lot, but I'm sure my DH doesn't feel that way and would say differently.

I just talked to my stepmom today. She mentioned that her objection may mostly stem because she feels the need to compete with my mom, and that has been expressed many times with my mil and fil. I tend to do a lot of things the way my mom is doig thing, and most things I do are opposite of what they do. It may be a jealousy and control issue.,
