Hello.  I'm new to this group and this site.  I'm 25 years old.  My children are three and almost 6 months.  I plan to homeschool one day and would like to get more familiar with it.

Homeschooling isn't that hard once you get familiar with it. It took a while before I found what I was looking for with my daughter. Abeka is the only curriculum I've found that my daughter isn't bored with. She loves the pictures and it's easier for both of us to follow.

Hi, my name is Monique. I'm a 30 year old mom of one 10 year old daughter. Her name is Clarrissa, but everyone calls her Lissa. Shes very strong willed, but with much prayer, and correction she is getting better... slowly!! I just started home schooling this year. I use A Becca books mostly, except for math,( because they are not very helpful with their explanations) I sometimes feel like a failure with her. I am a born again Christian(baptist). I have two children waiting for me in heaven. I would just like Christian advise and friendship, through my homeschooling. I believe we are our should be our children's first and only teachers!! My husband was home-schooled all his life, and he is a successful electrician. My daughter wants to be a forinsec scientist when she grows up. We are all saved.

I was introduced to homeschooling by my mom who has homeschooled my sister since the sixth grade and she is now in the 11th.  A few more in my family are homeschooling also.  Anyway I've thought about it and my husband also wants me to homeschool.  I've wandered when I needed to start homeschooling my son.  He'll be four Sept. 2.

Hey all,
My name is Whitney, I am 20 years old and my husband and I have an 11 month old and one due in July.
I was homeschooled in highschool so I have some experience.
I want to homeschool my children because I do not like the way the public school teaches, I do not want them teaching my sons and daughters sex ediucation, I want them to learn about Godly things as well as normal education and I want to know they are safe.

Regaurding your home schooling, all you have to do is go on gooogle, or your state web site and search under state guide lines for home schooling

Hello all, my name is Roban. Wife to Jeremy and  I'm a 23 yo homeschooling mom to Dominic 5, Jeremiah 3, Theodore 2 and Nathanael 1.  I also teach Sunday school for the pre-primary age.  We live in Willows, Ca population 6K with 3 stoplights.
This year we are homeschooling through a public charter school, however next year I'm hoping to go independent, as I don't like their curriculum.  I have been using Teach your child to read in 100 easy lessons with the older two.  My oldest doesn't like it, but my 3 yo loves it, and can read some words!
Dominic started out in ps this year, and started learning to read w/sight words, and that confused him.  Now he is all confused with reading.  I"m trying to get him back on track though.

Hi, I'm 26, I have a 3 year old son and twin 17 month old. I want to homeschool because I didn't have children to hand them over for someone else to raise.

I was homeschooled in high school, also.

I've been doing "Teach your child to read in 100 easy lessons" with my son, and a preschool workbook I picked up at Sams.I also do the preschool reading hour at my local library, and we read a lot...  My twins are starting potty 101 next week. :)

I don't know which curriculum I'll end up with, I honestly haven't even started looking!

Anyways, that's me!

You have already been schooling your son at home since you brought him home. You have taught him things like using utensils, using the bathroom, brushing his teeth and hair, and as the book work begins it is just an extension of that same love and concern that you have already showered on him. Watch for signs of readiness. Start with little learning songs and games and see how interested he is. Boys are sometimes not as book ready as girls (sometimes they are). While you are not into too much of the book work I would encourage you to learn about the various choices in the ways to homeschool and also to become familiar with learning styles. That was tremendously helpful to me along the way. I use text books mostly with my 2 now, but when I had my four older kids home with a baby in the house there was no way I could keep up with that and we did a lot of unit studies.  I am adding my intro to the post today. You can check that and see if you are comfortable with my advice.
