While reading the descriptions of the children's hunger, did you wonder why Ruth did not seek out some kind of assistance?
I think it was understandable she had learn to stand on her own to feet to mentor what because of her family turning away from her the way they did.
Do you think it was naive of Ruth McBride Jordan to think that her love for her family and her faith in God would overcome all potential obstacles or did you find her faith in God's love and guidance inspiring? I think I found it both I love stories of great faith but I also think sometimes we need faith to see our problems head on and know that God can and will meet them even or through us speaking up about things to trusted people who can help.
How do you feel about Ruth McBride Jordan's use of a belt to discipline her children? I hate the belt , I think it is to easy to get over active with it , to hurt too much .
Do you think that faith is something that can be passed on from one generation to the next or do you think that faith that is instilled too strongly in children eventually causes them to turn away from it? I think you have to show your kids your faith and how much and means to you. Take them to church so they grow up but watch for signs that they are burning out for what ever reason and fix it. I think that is one place we fault Jeff we were not turn in enough to see he need a change of pace or place in church or faith training. That is one reason he has turn his back on the church.
Why did Ruth’s family declare her dead? Could this happen to you? Her family did not know how to deal with her choice of a black man for a hubby or the new religion she embraced. No because my family has always believe family is always family and has always accepted each other differences as best we can even if it lets agree not to talk about certain things.
Why is the list of Ruth’s children, their education and their present work included It was the biggest achvement in her life and the reason she live like she did was to do the best she know how for her kids.
