let me mention other series about other interesting groups. More than Words by Judith Miller. Daughter of Amana set in Homestead Village Amana Colonies, Iowa. a group that lived with everything in common. You will know this name from the Amana products.
Two about the Shaker Life by Ann Gabhart. The Seeker and The Outsider.
I love historical fiction its nice to learn history in stories.
Red Hat Mum.
Thanks for the sections. I will like at them closer when I draw up next years list
I love reading about the long gone people of history.
I'm glad I read this post. One thing I love reading about is the Biographies of Pioneer American, English, Russian, etc... women. They were such strong women, both physically and especially spiritually. They HAD to be. Look what each of them went through!
We can learn so much through the lives of these precious women of our past and like you said, the Quakers, Amana, Shakers, Amish...etc.
Quoting plclemo:
I'm NUTS about historical fiction even though I hated history in school. I made A's just didn't like it at all. I was a science/math kid. Thanks for the suggestions.
LOL! Me too. I didn't like school, period... I wish I could reverse my life. I would love to just sit and learn, soaking up all kinds of information now!!! Funny how life is... Right now I don't have the time to go back to school. But, maybe when son is grown and out of the house... : )
In the meantime... I'll read, read and read some more.
Good to see you are in this group, too.
I'll definitely check into this series. I love historical fiction too, but sometimes I get a little tired of there being predominantly Amish in Christian Fiction.
