Ladies I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did but I have never read a Sparks book I did not like. Yes some more then others but still I love Nicholas Sparks. As always please just answer the question you feel lead to , but please lets have some good chat about it.

Edenton is the setting for the novel. How does this setting help the relationship between Taylor and Denise? How does it hinder it? Would their relationship have been possible in a larger city? I am not so sure it could have happen in a bigger city first Taylor would have not have call on the accident scene because they would have be a profession fire department and remember Taylor was a volunteer . Also they probably would not have run into each other at the store a few days later which real started thing rolling.
In the beginning of the novel, Denise has given up nearly everything in her life to take care of her son. Is this realistic? No not for the most part today. Would this have been more or less likely in the past? yes at a time when families live together or communtrys gather around someone who need help ,
Does she work with Kyle simply because she loves him or are there other forces involved? their forces I think a little I will show them I can do things and a little guilty for the way he was conceded as a one night stand ,
How does the fact that Kyle was the result of a one-night-stand affect her reasoning? She felt a need to make up for the lack of a father and her own guilty about the one night stand play a part too.
Because of his past, Taylor is unwilling to commit to another. At the end of the novel, however, he does just that. What role do past events play in other areas of Taylor's life? He was scared of getting to close to people because he make a little boy mistake which had cause his father , his life. Once he started to real care he withdrew so this would not happen to the new person he care about.
How does it affect his relationship with Kyle?He say in Kyle a little lost boy just as he was and want to spare him the hurt he had suffer without a man who realy care in his life.
With Mitch? he felt safe with Mitch because he had always be there even when he was a little boy and his father dead.
With Melissa? He want and need love like we all do but when he get to much in love it get scared especially when Mitch lose his life in the fire.
Can people really change that suddenly? Why or why not? No I think it take time , the desire can start at once and small steps to make these right can be fore everything to change all at once is a romantic idea.
How does Judy, Taylor's mother, see Denise? She see her as the woman who can final safe her son from the past hurts.
Think about the memories that Taylor has of his father. What is Taylor's vision of the kind of man his father was? He was a big hero who could fix anything , that is why he always feels the need to fix things.
Mitch's death was instrumental in forcing Taylor to come to grips with his past. Is there anything else that could have forced Taylor to do so? yes , the breaking of his relship with Denise
The theme of the novel is love as rescue. Who is saved by love in the
novel? How is this manifested in the story? Taylor , Melissa , and Kyle Taylor come to realize it was not his failure his father dead and to forgive him self, Melissa learn she was a good mom who was a young girl who make a mistake but had a true blessing in Kyle. Kyle begin to feel better about his self and was more open to talking and learning.
