Everyone that is sexual active these days are aware of what can happen if the right precautions are not taken. The government trying to make abortions harder to get will not help the situation due to more people may go to even more drastic measures and it will become another problem that will be addressed later. A chain reaction will occur.

No abortion is not birth control and no unfortunately even in the year 2009 a whole lot of young women really do not understand that the purpose of intercourse is for procreation! Many do not know that conception can take place the first time they have intercourse, don't know that positions don't decide whether or not you get pregnant, I've even heard (read notes) where young girls have told others if you do have sex don't do it on your period b/c that's when you'll get pregnant. Just a whole lot of ignorance to what happens when opposite sexes make the decision to pull down their clothes and engage in the act of copulation!

So if abortion once again becomes illegal then we go back to the times when women were seeking out people in dark alleys to ram hangers and other assorted materials into their bodies to remove fetuses, or where they run off to doctors who are unscrupulous and do not care about the safety of a young woman or her stability once this act is over, just as long as he/she has a few extra bucks to buy that new BMW off the showroom floor. Instead of us as a society breaking through the stigma we have of sex and teaching our children what is right and what is wrong as opposed to them learning it from ill-informed friends and the media which is only using it to make money, we resort to the dark ages of back alley abortions? Hmm, IMO talking and educating the youth seems a lot easier.

I agree with all of you ladies. I was one who had my first baby at the age of 15 after having sex the FIRST time.  I was ignorant and down right immature and that was an area my mother was not there for me or available to talk to me about.  She never told me what my worth was and that you don't have to have sex to show a boy that you love him.  Education is the key to all of this. It is about prevention.

you hit the nail on the head. looking from the stand point of what women would do if they could not just go to planned PARENT  hood i just wish woman would prevent pregnancy instead of terminating it.

I have a question for you:   Why does the government rule over the biological rights of women, yet, does not rule over the biological right of men?  How about mandating that men who have multiple children, are deadbeat dads and yet do not support them, have to undergo a mandatory vasectomy?

How about making it mandatory that men who make these children, because they are responsible for their birth control, also... had to pay, instead of the federal government, for abortions? Or had to take care of the child, after DNA testing indicated he was the Dad?

How about men who transmit AIDS/HIV through unprotected sexual activity have to become financially responsible for the medical care of the women/men they infect? And the children they produce?

Why are women so readily available to have the federal government rule over their female biological processes, yet, man rarely have these restrictions placed upon them?

Why is it that the government rule the fallopian tubes, and uteruses, yet, does not rule the penises and semen?  Just some food for thought and discussion, when you REALLY think about it...

i agree..its a huge misconception that women use abortions as bc...it is a difficult and sometimes heart wrenching decision for 99.9% of women who have them...its a personal decision between a woman her family and her doctor...the government has no place in that private decision..i think its easier for opposers to believe the lie to support their stance...

I agree. it is insane that the government is using their own personal views to dictate what all of the women in america do and then will degrade other countries for doing the same thing. get out of my uterus please and thank you.

i agree abortion is not bc. i also believe that a man is just as responsible as a woman to make sure they take the right steps to prevent pregnancy...

i'd be lying if i said i did not agree with both of you ladies...but i do not think that 99.9% is hardly true. there are so many woman that dont think twice about getting pregnant and getting rid of it. and it is not only the mans fault. we have so much control over our bodies.....sometimes
