It's sad.
I think some people feel as if whenever a celebrity dies, everyone rushes to sing their praises. In the event that it is a celebrity that has had a lot of negativity in their life, those people feel as if everyone forgets that and turns the celebrity into some being with no faults. I've seen some points made saying something along the lines of if someone asked you about Whitney a week ago, would you be singing her praises or would you be more likely to throw out a crackhead joke?
I have to say I totally agree with that aspect of it. Ask people this question now and they will say that they would have sung praises. Personally, I can't remember the last conversation, prior to her death, where everyone was talking about how great she was and all of her very many accomplishments. She's been so far removed from it that if you remember her work, off the top of your head, it might be Bobby Brown's reality show, she looked like a nutcase. Or any number of interviews that didn't change many people's perspectives. And you might get "Well she did try to come back". And it's true because so many people had hope for her when she came back and suddenly it was overshadowed by negative rumors. It's hard to change negative opinions whether it is with a celebrity or a product.
I understand that when a person dies, you want to remember the good. I think the people who are "hating" on her would rather see a more realistic representation of the person. Whitney was a GREAT talent, one of THE very best voices ever, in my own opinion, I liked her acting too and can't wait to see Sparkle finally. However, that wasn't Whitney, it was only a part of her. She had a terrible time with her demons (whatever that entails because it was more than just drugs) Because she is a public figure, everybody saw it and that too is how she is judged. The truth, that too, is a part of Whitney. I will always remember her sitting in that chair in her video, make up perfect (I often thought her make up was terrible) voice flawless as she sat in that chair, with the winter background singing "I will always love you".
Most of those women are self-absorbed idiots, I barely pay them any mind anymore. In Confessions, they love to hide behind that Anon button, more proof that they don't have any balls. Some just do it for the shock value, to see how many responses they can get.
You can't fix stupid, and I don't even try.
you are absolutely right...however they seem to be only concentrating on the negative. when a person dies I think you should reflect on their lives as a whole. and if someone asked me about Whitney what I said would have depended on the conversation....
