Good hair? Hmmmm...

I'm 26 and DD is 7 and both of our hair changes its texture occasionally.

Some things we'll never know.

Can someone explain to me what exactly good hair is? Or, for that matter, what bad hair is?

Good hair in the black community is one or more of the following.. Fine, curly, slick when wet, oh let me not forget.. If the hair is long, damaged or not. Basically the closes texture to a white persons hair. The term is shallow and I hope it dies off. Good hair is healthy hair, regardless of texture or length. And totally does not make someone better if the texture is closer to white people's hair. It does not make someone special. Lord know I DESPISE the term!

Bad hair is any hair that is not closer to white people's hair. Thick, corse, soft, but kinky, not flowing.. Like I said.. Hair that is not close to white people's hair. BARF!

What gets under my skin is the when black people are constantly hoping and wishing for that stereotypic "good hair". We all have heard this: " I hope my babies hair stays like this, or their father has "good hair", I hope my baby gets it". Smdh!

What do you mean by good hair?  For me hair has no value (as in good or bad). When people say good hair,  they usually mean straight hair or the closer it is to being like the hair white people have.  Is that what you mean?   Your child will likely have the hair type that you and or his father has. My child's hair went from being straight to being nappy at about 1 year of age.

By the way, nappy also has no good or bad value for me. It just is what it is!

Well bad hair to me is nappy ass hair wit hard beadabeads around the edges. My hair is pass the mid of my back...without a perm every 6 months my head a look horrible lol but on the other hand my 10 yr old same lenth but her hair isnt course (her dad has wavy fine hair) so i guess its combine. My last dd and 8yr old father has horrible hair yet my 8yr has thin fine curly hair idk where that came from and now my 3m old hair is silky full finer than any of my kids head eva been. But being a teacher at a daycare i must admit i have seen babies kids toddlers all different grades of hair. Ima love my dds regardless it was only a curious question.

But our 8yr has fine thin kinda curly but frizzy hair idk where that came from...had to skip a generation. And NO good hair is not close to white hair...when i say good im refering to the silky curls
