URBAN FICTION:DO YOU READ IT?

Posted by   + Show Post
I am a new writer/author and I'd like to know what does the majority of our black culture read. I hope to publish my first book soon which is Urban Fiction. I want to know what are your likes and dislikes about the genre and how it can be improved by the authors out there. What would you like to see come to light that hasn't been done yet?

I read Eric Jerome Dickey. That's about as far as I go into urban fiction. Oh, and once somebody had me read something called Dutch. Some woman wrote this book, and a sequel. Then apparently some guy came along and wrote the third installment of the book. I'm not sure how one can even do that but apparently it happened. Then the original author wrote the third version of the book and her fans said the guy wrote the third version best. I didn't get that far but that interested me for some reason.

I'm more of a classic lit person.

I read urban fiction occasionally. I'm more of a mystery/murder/suspense book type of girl though.
