Just a little bit from this article.

"Some critics insist that Douglas needs to properly represent the African American community, and how her hair looks is part of that. And yet, most of the negative comments about her hair are coming from other African Americans."
""I find it sad that I have seen more Black women post criticizing comments about Gabby's hair than I have comments of praise about her athleticism or adding color to USA Gymnastics since Dominique Dawes," writes Monisha Randolph at SportyAfros.com."
" Many African American women choose not to work out in order to protect their hairstyle, Randolph points out. "The last time I checked when you play a sport, you sweat. I know I do. And when a Black woman who has chosen to wear her hair straight begins to sweat, her hair will (not might) begin to revert back to its natural coily, curly, or kinky state," she writes. "Some of us are sitting up right now with our hair done but suffering from high blood pressure, borderline diabetes, obesity, and/or a lack of energy. Oh, but the hair is on point."
So what do you honestly think of Gabbys hair??
I will admit, on first sight I thought...the girl needs her hair done in a better ponytail, BUT after seeing her work magic..I didnt care as much anymore that her hair did not look as good as it could. I do not think she needs a relaxer or weave, I just think she needs a comb, brush, and a little jam and hair spary. Then put her hair up into a nice looking bun :-)
Everyone seems to be dying to get that European look about them selves. Whats up with that? I must admit i do straighten my own hair and sometimes wear long weaves, but damn if your happy to be nappy more power to you. This girl is young and successful, a lot of sisters who keep their dubby tight don't even have a job. Guarantee she'll be fly once the olympics is over.
This is the Olympics. Sports. Not a hair show at the Apollo. That is the problem we judge each other and ourselves on superficial s**t. It's like a comedian once said on stage "Come home from prison and they treat you like royalty, come home from college with a degree and people talk about you like you did something wrong" and it is so true. Folks need to get a grip on what really matters in life.
Quoting TGOLD1:I don't....Seriously!?! People make my head heavy...Smh. I agree w/ the reporter.
The people talking about her hair are the same broke bitches who spend their kid's lunch money on an imitation Nicki Minaj airbrushed cheetah print lacefront.
I didn't focus on her hair they all had pony tails, I focused on her talent, Black people can never just compliment another on something, just have to find something neg to trash all the time, pitiful
Quoting Deezeekay:
Quoting EbonyLove29:I love Gabby! Her hair doesn't matter!
I'm sorry but I had to share this. lmao!
She's an amazing athlete and people are focused on looks, it's a sport not a beauty pageant.
