Hi mom, I'll give you an example of how this word is used in a sentence:

One of his little idiosyncrasies was always preferring to be the first to clear his dinner plate.

So an easy way to understand the word "idiosyncrasies" is it's a quirk, personality or a action that's peculiar to an individual or you can say mannerism, habit, or characteristic...
