Snowbirds may be looking to other places instead of Florida if this law is enforced
The state of Florida secretly passes a law that as of January 1, 2013 all non-U.S. visitors have to have an international driver's permit. Majority of Canadians spend a lot of time in Florida during the winter season. Some even have winter homes there. It boosts the Florida economy as they spend their hard earned dollars there, thousands of dollars not just pennies and not just for a week or two but 4 to 5 months. Some even have winter homes purchased there in which they pay taxes on (U.S. taxes to the U.S. government). A lot more in taxes than Florida residents. So you think who ever the Einstein was who thought that would be a great idea to harm the Florida economy, would have thought that decision through very carefully. Right now it's on hold, but if it's enforced most will just go else where to spend their money during their mone during the winter months (Costa Rica, Cuba, other U.S. states). Other warm places that are considered safe for Canadians.
